Role
Who you are
- 6-8+ years of SEO experience with a record of delivering measurable growth at high-traffic consumer or content-driven brands
- Expertise across technical SEO, content optimization, and analytics; comfortable using GA4, GSC, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, and similar tools
- Demonstrated ability to partner with Product and Engineering to scope, prioritize, and launch SEO improvements
- Strong analytical skills and experience using data to inform decisions and measure impact
- Previous experience in a high-growth or startup environment preferred
- Execution-oriented with a bias toward action and tangible results
- Strategic but hands-on, comfortable moving between data analysis and content optimization
- Collaborative communicator who works effectively with cross-functional teams and leadership
- Detail-driven and persistent, able to diagnose and fix issues independently

What the job involves
- SEO Strategy & Roadmap – Develop and own the company-wide SEO vision, integrating technical, content, and off-page strategies across Inkitt, Galatea, and Candy Jar
- Technical SEO – Conduct comprehensive site audits; improve crawl efficiency, indexing, internal linking, and Core Web Vitals; manage structured data and sitemap health
- Keyword & Content Optimization – Build scalable keyword frameworks, identify high-impact topics, and guide content creation to capture search intent and drive new audience growth
- On-Page SEO – Optimize metadata, headings, alt text, schema markup, and internal linking for key landing pages and story collections
- Analytics & Reporting – Set up and manage SEO dashboards, define KPIs, and track performance in GA4, GSC, Ahrefs, and other tools; communicate insights to leadership
- Cross-Functional Collaboration – Partner with Product, Engineering, and Design to implement SEO best practices and launch high-impact experiments
- Content & Link Strategy – Lead initiatives for content freshness, authority building, and outreach to expand Inkitt’s visibility and domain strength
- Competitor & Market Analysis – Benchmark performance against comparable platforms and identify whitespace opportunities
- Testing & Innovation – Continuously experiment with structure, copy, and technical improvements to drive measurable organic growth
Our take
The current publishing industry makes it very difficult for breakout authors to achieve success. Furthermore, publications are often based off subjective opinions of those in the industry, and potential readers have no input in the matter, despite them being the force that will drive a book's success.
Inkitt takes a different approach to publishing in order to give writers a fairer chance of success. The company allows writers to submit their stories onto the website where readers have free access to read anything posted. Using an algorithm, Inkitt then determines which stories have the most reader engagement, and based on this information, decides which to take to official print and publication.
Several rounds of funding to the sum of more than $100M have allowed Inkitt to invest more in its algorithm and technology and open offices in San Francisco. It's also looking to expand into more mediums such as video content and audiobooks, with a long-term aim of building a media empire akin to Disney. Though there's a long way to go for that lofty aim to come to fruition, Inkitt has already attracted 33M users and published dozens of bestsellers.
