Who you are

A Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, robotics, or a related technical field from an accredited institution, or equivalent experience in autonomous systems testing
Minimum of 5 years of experience as an SDET or Test Automation Engineer
Demonstrated ability in developing and executing test plans for complex systems within aggressive timelines
Proficiency in developing test automation frameworks using modern programming languages (e.g., Python, C/C++, Go)
Experience creating and managing CI/CD pipelines
Advanced expertise in Linux, including scripting, system configuration, and log analysis
Strong collaboration and communication skills for cross-functional teamwork
Familiarity with defect tracking and test management tools (e.g., Jira, TestRail)
Ability to obtain a security clearance (U.S. Citizenship may be required)

Desirable

Direct experience in the development, testing, and deployment of mission autonomy systems in a defense or aerospace context
Exposure to Hardware-in-the-Loop (HITL) or Software-in-the-Loop (SITL) simulation environments
Familiarity with observability tools (e.g., Grafana, Prometheus, DataDog)
Experience with test automation tools such as Pytest, Robot Framework, Playwright, CircleCI

As we expand, we're seeking a methodical engineer who is prepared to tackle the challenges of mission autonomy testing and contribute to the iterative development and refinement of our autonomous systems, including the Fury, Anduril's Group 5 UAS
As a Mission Autonomy Software Automation Test Engineer at Anduril Industries, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of defense technology. Your focus on autonomy will empower users to execute multifaceted missions with precision and efficiency. Join us in our mission to transform military capabilities with your expertise in testing and autonomy
Drive the advancement of Anduril's testing methodologies, with a focus on mission autonomy systems, to ensure robust and reliable performance in complex operational scenarios
Design and implement test plans that challenge and verify the capabilities of autonomous systems in a variety of simulated mission profiles
Analyze data from tests to validate system performance and identify areas for improvement, iterating rapidly to refine autonomy algorithms and behaviors
Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, hardware engineers, and product managers, to define test requirements and ensure alignment with system capabilities and mission objectives
Drive end-to-end test management by shaping program requirements, designing comprehensive test plans, leading execution efforts, analyzing complex data, and delivering clear, concise reports to cross-functional and program teams
Execute and analyze simulations that replicate real-world scenarios for autonomous systems to accelerate testing cycles, optimize system performance, and inform stakeholders on development and deployment implications
Coordinate with private and government test ranges to test and evaluate systems and software

Our take

Anduril makes hardware and software for defense agencies including the Department of Defense and the Department of Homeland Security. Its hardware products include specialist drones with a long flight time and surveillance towers.

This hardware is tied together by proprietary software, the Lattice platform, which uses sensor fusion, machine learning, and mesh networking to integrate real-time data from Anduril hardware and third-party systems into a single, autonomous operating picture. While the hardware observes and detects, the software can make decisions as to the threat level of any anomalies, and so allow for observation and protection of an area or building with minimal manpower.

Anduril closed a $1 billion Series G funding round in 2025 led by the Founders Fund, doubling its valuation to $30 billion. This oversubscribed funding round came after the company doubled its revenue in 2024, when it won a contract with the US military to build its soldiers' VY/AR headsets for combat, a contract the company beat Microsoft to.
