Who you are
- Motivated by the Khan Academy mission “to provide a free world-class education for anyone, anywhere.”
- 7+ years of experience across data strategy, analytics, and business intelligence, — ideally within an edtech, nonprofit, or international context
- Expertise in SQL, python, Google Sheets, and data visualization tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau)
- Familiarity with education data systems and a strong grasp of common education metrics (e.g., usage, dosage, assessment outcomes)
- Proven ability to work cross-functionally with engineers, product teams, and educators
- Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to juggle multiple workflows in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a talent for translating technical concepts for non-technical audiences
- Proven cross-cultural competency skills demonstrating self-awareness, awareness of other, and the ability to adopt inclusive perspectives, attitudes, and behaviors to drive inclusion and belonging throughout the organization
- Comfort with ambiguity and a bias toward action; you enjoy building and iterating in evolving contexts
- Experience working interculturally and across time zones, with the flexibility to support global teams
- A collaborative and entrepreneurial mindset, eager to contribute and coordinate effectively with diverse partners
What the job involves
- This role will also foster a community of practice among KhanX analysts, enabling shared learning, consistent approaches, and stronger collaboration
- Additionally, the role may involve taking on select cross-cutting analytics projects that serve multiple countries, helping to inform strategy at a broader scale
- The emphasis is on enabling and connecting, rather than producing one-off custom reports
- As part of the Analytics team in the Data Insights Group, you will embed deeply with the Khan Academy International team and collaborate closely with country teams, product teams, and analytics leads across Brazil, India, Pakistan, Peru, Southeast Asia, and other regions
- This is a full-time role with global scope, international travel (1- 2x/year), and requires comfort working across time zones
- Own the Streamlit-based KPI reporting platform (requirements, maintenance); define and prioritize technical requirements for country-specific secure data enclaves in partnership with implementation teams
- Uphold data governance standards and best practices by establishing and enforcing data integrity protocols (e.g., minimum aggregation levels) and guide teams on responsible use of data insights
- Lead and contribute to special projects that enhance support models, deepen partner enablement, and advance global scalability
- Serve as the primary liaison between Khan Academy HQ and country teams on analytics planning, reporting guides, analytics training resources, timelines, and deliverables. Ultimately, part of your role is crucial in building long-term data fluency within country teams
- Foster and facilitate a community of analysts across country teams, creating opportunities for shared learning, peer support, and the spread of best practices

Khan Academy is a non-profit that provides free online education materials, including teacher tools, instruction videos, and practice exercises to support users of all ages. It has over 10 million users a month and covers subjects all the way up to college level.
With nearly a quarter of American adults unable to use mathematics in daily life, Khan Academy’s interactive quizzes, instructional videos, and teacher tools are timely. Khan Academy started life as a series of educational YouTube videos, before building a full-scale platform after receiving an influx of donations from Silicon Valley philanthropists. This background has led it to embrace rather than reject the educational possibilities of new tech such as AI, with the founder regarding traditional institutions' banning of tools like ChatGPT as a mistake.
The company offers its tools completely for free, instead of relying on donations and volunteers. A key focus is tackling wealth inequality in education. A partnership with the College Board (who produce entrance examinations for higher education) has made access to SAT prep materials free for millions. 2024 saw a partnership with Microsoft for Khan Academy's Khanmigo product, now free to use for Microsoft customers.
