Role
Who you are
- Have 2+ years of software engineering experience, mostly in TypeScript
- Have a strong bias towards action, a willingness to do whatever it takes, and embody show > tell
- Have a strong sense of agency, effectively prioritizing and unblocking yourself without much outside input
- Value taking ownership and responsibility for your projects and systems
- Studied Computer Science (or related field), or dropped out to build stuff
- Located in Toronto or willing to relocate

- Our agentic AI platform brings "AI employees" into the workplace to take over the repetitive, soul-crushing workflows that slow teams down. The result: organizations move faster, with sharper focus, and deliver better outcomes where it matters most, like improving patient care
- The shift to agentic work is inevitable, and we’re leading it. We've scaled from $0 -> $1MM+ ARR in 3 months with our agentic product, and we're looking for engineers to help us reach $10MM+ ARR in the next 9 months
- As a founding engineer, you won’t just be writing code, you’ll be shaping the playbook for the future of work alongside a small, relentless team pushing the edge of what’s possible with AI
- We're backed by the investors behind OpenAI, Anthropic, Huggingface, and Notion, including Greylock, Coatue, and Lightspeed. The runway is long. The ambition is high. And the market is wide open
- Push the frontier of how agents interact with the browser, improving speed, reliability, and coverage across real-world apps
- Build and evolve how multiple agents collaborate to solve complex workflows
- Design and scale the systems that make Magical run seamlessly on desktop, unlocking enterprise-grade stability and performance
- Build rigorous verification systems that guarantee our agents are doing the right thing every time

Our take
It’s generally accepted that most workers in many sectors will complete at least one repetitive computer task within their work day. Magical is a platform hoping to remove the ache of these mundane tasks through its automation system.
The company doesn’t use specific integrations or APIs, rather, it simply collects repeatedly used data that can then be collated on the likes of a Google sheet or email. The platform stops you from typing the same thing over and over by populating repeatedly used text such as contact information. It's said to save an average of seven hours of work a week with its free-to-download Chrome extension.
Founded in 2020, Magical has attracted considerable funding and a growing enterprise footprint. Alongside this, the company has worked with over 10,000 businesses, including Salesforce, Uber, Bolt, Disney and Facebook, and is now moving beyond simple productivity tools into more advanced AI-driven automation. Recent partnerships, such as with Beacon Health System, signal a shift toword agentic AI capable of executing complex workflows within existing systems, particularly in high-stakes environments like healthcare.
