Who you are
- Have an interest in learning about security or prior experience in the space
- Have played technical leadership roles for teams or complex projects
- Have experience with frontend infrastructure challenges related to scale, reliability, or performance
- Have experience writing codemods and familiarity with infrastructure as code
- Experience with GraphQL, Typescript and React, and are familiar with frontend technologies / libraries such as Webpack, Parcel, Mocha, Jest, etc
- Have worked on technical initiatives aimed towards web performance, product platform, frontend infrastructure, or developer productivity
What the job involves
- Vanta’s product monitors the security posture for thousands of companies, pulling tens of millions of API calls of data per day, pushing information from hundreds of thousands of laptop agents, and running tests against that data continuously to identify potential security threats
- Our frontend infrastructure and tooling need to stay ahead of exponential growth in our customer base
- As a Senior Software Engineer at Vanta, you’ll be responsible for setting technical direction to provide a strong foundation for our frontend stack and enable our infrastructure to scale with our business
- You will also drive complex projects across our technical stack and mentor our talented engineering team

- Vanta’s Platform team’s mission is to enable Vanta teams to efficiently build products for our customers
- With a frontend focus, you will tackle challenging and highly impactful front-end and full-stack challenges that have company-wide impact
- You and your team empower other Vanta engineers to leverage cutting-edge technologies and best practices to make Vanta more performant and scalable on a platform level. Example projects include improving our application performance and redesigning and migrating to a new frontend testing framework
- Lead complex projects with multiple stakeholders and engineers to enable our business and team to scale
- Improve and maintain our internal GraphQL API, and set best practices across the org
- Set direction for our frontend testing strategy to support a quickly growing number of engineers
- Build and maintain frontend testing infrastructure
- Improve our frontend build tooling, including bundling and managing how we publish our assets
- Ensure our frontend monitoring is robust and that our app is performant
- Advocate for product quality and collaborate with product engineering teams on cross cutting issues, such as web performance
- Work with talented and kind engineers to make a significant impact on our customer base, enabling them to improve their security and prove it
- Contribute to building Vanta’s engineering culture as we grow
Our take
The security auditing process is usually very time-consuming, taking hours to complete, and it is often difficult for start-ups to invest time into such a process. Yet, the benefits of security accreditation are enormous, mainly as many such businesses are working globally and need ways to demonstrate security compliance to one another. Vanta works specifically with start-ups to help them complete and pass security audits such as SOC 2 and ISO 27001.
The company is a compliance portal and security monitoring platform that businesses use to assess their risk levels. Vanta carries out a pre-audit of a company's digital security and highlights areas that need to be worked on before a full analysis of all threats is carried out. Other businesses such as Datadog or PagerDuty offer similar security monitoring services, but Vanta monitors its customers throughout the year, allowing any issues to be identified and addressed early on.
Vanta has found a valuable cybersecurity niche within the giant SaaS market. Companies such as Lattice, Clubhouse, and Calm are all customers, demonstrating a growing trend for companies to manage their cybersecurity proactively, which Vanta should be able to take advantage of to further grow and develop into the future.
