Role
Who you are
- 7+ years relevant experience plus 3+ years managing others
- Full stack development experience, including working with javascript, react, and solidity is required, as is experience developing and deploying web3 applications
- Experience with Firebase, security practices, and parallel fiat/crypto payment processes is a plus, as is experience developing two-sided marketplace applications
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaborative skills
- Hands on experience coding projects within the last 4 years
- A proven understanding of best engineering practices for the entire software development life cycle
- Track record of successfully building and shipping web2 or web3 products at scale
- Experience working at an early-stage startup — growing and scaling in a fast-paced environment
What the job involves
- In this role, we are looking for an experienced, entrepreneurial engineering leader to architect, lead the implementation, and manage the operation of our platform
- They will manage a team of full stack and front-end developers, and also be responsible for the robust implementation of the company’s solidity contracts
- In addition to overseeing all technical aspects of the company’s platform, the person is expected to set the cultural tone for Tonic’s engineering team and lead them to successful outcomes
- Architect, implement and manage Tonic’s platform
- Partner with the founding team to iterate on the platform vision and product strategy. Be accountable for ensuring technical feasibility of said strategy
- Stay abreast of relevant technical trends, offering, and providers
- Source, evaluate, and integrate 3rd party tools as appropriate
- Establish clear KPIs and goals and communicate progress against them
- Build and lead a best in class team — attract, mentor, and retain top talent
- Drive goal-setting with the engineering team and hold them accountable for results
- Build security, data protection, and quality control processes to protect our customers’ data and assets
- Create development, test, QA, and deployment processes that enable rapid iterative deployments of functionality
Our take
NFTs have become a large talking point within the fine art world, with many arguing that crypto and blockchain technology creates legal challenges surrounding ownership and citing intellectual property and regulatory problems when transferring real-world art into the digital space. Tonic aim to be just that, a tonic for those worried about the increasing interconnectivity of digital and real-world art.
Through Tonic’s digital galleries and generative art exhibitions, the company aims to provide crypto and non-crypto natives with a safe space in which to learn about, trade, and collect fine art NFTs. Using a web interface not unlike traditional commerce websites, Tonic is closing the gap between the two worlds, hosting digital exhibitions and auctions that help to expand awareness of contemporary artists and provide a new way for buyers to enter the art market.
Though a small and young company, Tonic has raised respectable funding and will use it to expand its client base and reach more artists for collaboration.
