Role
Who you are
- Demonstrated 3-5 years experience in developing HR processes and technology
- Functional experience with multiple Workday modules primarily Workday Payroll and Payroll Interface
- Exposure to Greenhouse or Lever ATS and other HR SaaS based solutions
- Experience influencing cross functional working groups in order to deliver on projects
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills required
- Ability to work independently and as part of a distributed team and maintain confidential and highly sensitive information
- Proven time management skills and an ability to handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines/SLAs
- Ability to apply Design Thinking principles to continuously capture the voice of the customer and consider their unique needs, preferences and experiences
What the job involves
- Collaborating with our people team and IT on how to best use Workday at Udemy to build an employee centric engagement model across multiple modules in Workday
- Take ownership of discovery, requirements, testing and deployment within Workday
- Be a subject matter expert in at least two modules of Workday (Payroll and Absence highly preferred)
- Own development of Payroll and Time Off Solutions for Udemy globally
- Assess and drive new feature adoption in people systems through developing and owning product roadmap in collaboration with business partners
- Partner with other internal departments such as Benefits, Compensation, Finance, Payroll, and Equity to ensure data accuracy and drive engaging employee experiences through continuous improvementIdentify trends and initiate process improvements with team/manager to support and improve employee experience and create process optimization
- Participate in system upgrades, enhancements, testing, validation, and overall system performance, including regression testing
- Supporting ongoing process improvement activities to bring greater efficiency to HR technology processes
- Understanding the business process of the customer and playing the role of advocate for customer needs
- Mentor junior team members in functionality, project management, and system improvement
Our take
With over 40 million students, and a set of specialist upskilling programmes (especially for businesses and governments), Udemy has become a leading virtual education provider for students and businesses alike.
They've been smart in spreading their short-courses across various sectors. In particular, capitalizing on the adult re-training stream may have helped them stay the course through the Covid-19 Pandemic. This is by no means a given, as competitors Udacity, Kano, and Lynda have recently faded out of sight or belt-tightened through re-structuring.
In late 2020 Udemy raised $50 million, taking their valuation to over $3 billion. They intend to continue global expansion, with suggestions they may branch out with acquisitions that complement their current course offerings. Udemy do not currently offer language learning, for example, and are unlikely to successfully compete with market-dominant language tools like DuoLingo. Such strategic growth could see them continue to lead an exciting and developing market.
