Role
Who you are
- 5+ years of experience in a product-focused engineering role
- Experience working in an agile team environment
- Experience working in a backend language, such as Java, Scala, Golang, etc
- Experience working with both SQL and NoSQL databases and understand that neither is a replacement for the other
- Experience working with stream processing technologies, such as Apache Kafka, Apache Pulsar, Redpanda, etc
- Experience with container orchestration systems, such as Kubernetes, HashiCorp Nomad
- Experience with cloud, AWS, GCP, Azure, etc
- You seek constant learning and improvement for yourself and your peers
- Excited to work in a team environment with other engineers and product managers
- A positive attitude and an open mind to making trade-offs when solving challenges in a complex operating environment
What the job involves
- The backend engineering team known as "Real Time" at ActionIQ plays a critical role in building and operating our big-data platform and core product offering
- You’ll work in all areas of the software development life cycle to launch new features and improve and refactor our backend systems
- As a member of the team, you will make well-reasoned tech vs. product trade-offs, and work collaboratively across teams to deliver and support a quality product and platform which ingests, models, queries, and exports multiple terabytes of streaming and batch data every day
- One year from now you will have:
- Launched several new microservice APIs to improve the functionality and performance of the AIQ platform
- Influenced the adoption of new technologies, tools, libraries, and structuring code to improve the efficiency and quality of our codebase
- Worked closely with other engineering teams, product managers, and architects to collaboratively drive change to our product and platform
- Solved challenging problems in how our platform operates, extends its feature set, and scales to handle even more data and queries, while improving quality and reliability
- Deliver high-quality, maintainability code
- Operationally ensure services meet uptime and availability SLAs
- Work with others to break down projects into smaller units of work with intermediate milestones
- Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and architects to design and implement features and improvements throughout multiple areas of the product
- Mentor junior engineers and interns with a growth mindset

ActionIQ helps companies directly collect, analyze, and utilize customer data in order to provide personalized marketing solutions. The company focuses on providing its services for mail, in-app, site, and paid media platforms, without using restrictive third-party data.
