What the job involves
- We are seeking a strategic and results-oriented paralegal, to help build our legal and compliance team
- In this role, you will report to the Chief Legal Officer on the Legal and Compliance team
- You’ll have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects with an array of people from across the company as we build the team and the company
- Act as the first point of contact for Legal and Compliance, fielding questions, coordinating signatures, managing state qualifications and filings, and supporting ad hoc projects
- Build and scale processes and tools to improve workflow, increase velocity, and measure team impact
- Research legal requirements and partner with the Legal and Compliance team to develop guidance on legal and compliance issues
- Design, build, and lead cross-functional projects spanning compliance, HR, contracting, and corporate governance
- Maintain company books, team records, and compliance documentation; oversee data gathering and record-keeping
- Draft and assist in contract negotiations and agreements; develop training and documentation for new processes

More than half of Americans cannot cover an unexpected medical expense of $1,000. To help solve this healthcare affordability crisis, PayZen offers personalized payment options. Using AI and machine learning, patient’s data is analysed to evaluate their ability to pay, making it possible to pre-emptively support those in financial difficulty.
PayZen works for patients and medical providers. Providers can expect to get a much higher collection rate with accelerated cash flow, without having to pay software costs or program fees, whist patients receive affordable and flexible access to care without interest or fees. A patient’s debt doesn’t increase, as they never have to pay more than the cost of the service.
While the Buy-Now-Pay-Later space in healthcare is becoming increasingly overcrowded - Afterpay and Sezzle, for example, allow customers to pay their medical bills in interest-free instalments - PayZen's strong funding history puts it in a good position from which to grow. It has used funds to accelerate its mission and launch new ventures such as the "Care Card", that offers the benefits of its payment plans in the form of a physical and virtual debit card.
