Role
Who you are
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a related field, a plus
- 3+ years of experience in account management, customer success, or related roles
- Experience in retail, managed marketplaces, eCommerce, excess inventory solutions, or supply chain management a plus
- Comfort with software technology and quickly adopting new features
- Analytical abilities, excellent communication and negotiation skills, and proficiency in CRM software (e.g., Hubspot)
- Self-motivated, client-focused, with the ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Experience in a fast-moving and dynamic startup environment a plus
What the job involves
- We are looking for a strategic Account Manager to oversee a portfolio of enterprise buyers, ensuring their success, satisfaction, and desire to grow and partner with Ghost
- You will focus on relationship management, prioritizing repeat transactions, fostering long-term growth, and optimizing client outcomes
- Your proactive and entrepreneurial approach to account management will be pivotal in achieving customer retention and company growth objectives
- Develop and execute tailored account plans for each customer, aligning their business objectives with our marketplace offerings to maximize value and satisfaction
- Cultivate and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with senior stakeholders across client organizations, serving as their primary point of contact and advocate within our company
- Negotiate and close deals while collaborating with internal teams to ensure a smooth end-to-end experience
- Analyze client purchasing patterns and inventory needs online and in-store, as well as via competitor shopping, to proactively recommend opportunities for inventory buys that meet client requirements
- Address and resolve client issues promptly and effectively, ensuring a high level of client satisfaction and retention
- Accurately and consistently record all client interactions in HubSpot and other CRM systems, ensuring precise tracking of account metrics, transaction volumes, and client data across internal platforms
- Stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and client business developments to identify new opportunities and potential risks
- Develop materials for clients that translate performance data and market insights into value-driven buying strategies and long-term account expansion opportunities
- Work closely with internal teams, including Supply, Operations, Engineering, Product, and Design (EPD), and Finance to ensure seamless service delivery and to advocate for client needs
Our take
Excess inventory is one of the biggest pain points for modern retailers. Ghost solves this problem by making it easier for retailers to buy and sell excess inventory discreetly and sustainably.
With retailers wasting around $500 billion a year on excess inventory, demand for solutions like Ghost's is sky-high. The company has also made good on this demand, emerging from stealth mode in 2022 and about $38 million in funding to date. Ghost, which functions in much the same way as eBay, has benefited hugely from its founder's prior experience in the apparel industry.
Ghost's clear focus on sustainability and discretion has broad market appeal, especially for large-scale retailers looking to reduce waste and improve their public image. If Ghost can continue to attract such clients, it could scale at an impressive pace in the coming years.
