Who you are
- This role is execution-focused and requires a hands-on leader with deep product management expertise in healthcare technology
- 10+ years in product management, with 5+ years in a senior leadership role
- Proven experience scaling product teams and portfolios in dynamic and evolving environments
- Strong domain expertise in healthcare technology, interoperability, digital health, or related sectors
- Experience working with payers or providers in the healthcare system
- Deep understanding of agile methodologies, product operations, and cross-functional collaboration
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and operational execution skills
- Experience with regulatory and compliance frameworks relevant to healthcare
Desirable
- Experience with payer and provider platforms, EHR integrations, or population health tools
- Familiarity with clinical workflows and user personas in the healthcare ecosystem
- Background in both B2B SaaS and platform products
What the job involves
- As our Vice President of Product, you will be responsible for translating high-level product strategy into day-to-day execution
- You will work closely with the Chief Product and Technology Officer (CPTO) to operationalize the company’s vision and build a high-performing product organization
- You will partner cross-functionally with engineering, design, and commercial teams to deliver compliant, secure, and impactful products
- Translate the company’s product vision and strategic goals into actionable roadmaps and execution plans
- Build, lead, and scale a high-performing product management organization
- Build and mature agile product development teams that are collaborative, iterative, and delivery-focused
- Define and track key outcomes and metrics to evaluate the success and impact of products, and use these insights to guide ongoing improvements and prioritization
- Own the product lifecycle from ideation to launch to post-launch optimization
- Partner closely with engineering, design, and commercial teams to develop and deliver innovative, outcomes-focused solutions
- Work directly with customers to gather feedback, validate product direction, and ensure solutions meet real-world needs
- Drive competitive differentiation through thoughtful market analysis and customer engagement
- Ensure products are built with compliance, interoperability, and security as first-class citizens (FHIR, HIPAA, SOC 2, HITRUST)
- Implement data-driven product development processes, KPIs, and frameworks to ensure consistent delivery and continuous improvement
- Establish scalable practices for product planning, prioritization, and feedback loops
Our take
Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) is a global healthcare interoperability standard currently being adopted by major organizations across the US (including the US government) to facilitate the electronic exchange of healthcare information. 1upHealth is a health-tech company helping new organizations adopt the standard by converting data to FHIR and facilitating data sharing and analytics.
The federal government is pushing the healthcare industry to adopt FHIR-based APIs, which will be to 1upHealth’s benefit. The market appears to still be relatively unpopulated in the US, and as 1upHealth facilitates the entry of others into it, it may carve out a real and lucrative niche. Regulations that push for adoption are already coming into play - since 2021, for example, providers are obliged to make specific data available through FHIR APIs.
This market seems yet to mature in the US, and the 2017-founded 1upHealth could stand to make real progress alongside it as it does. Most recently, the company was ranked the 43rd Fastest-Growing Company in North America on the 2024 Deloitte Technology Fast 500, a significant achievement marking the company one to watch in the developing space.
