What the job involves
- The Access Cluster is looking for highly skilled and motivated candidate to join the Web Platform squad (based in Belgium/London)
- You will have the opportunity to work on a product that is used by most top financial institutions in the world and is key in the digital economy of today
- As a Test Engineer, you will be part of a dynamic software development team environment where your testing skills will be crucial to the delivery of mission critical financial software to the global financial industry following structured development approaches in Agile methodologies
- You will undertake DevOps/testing/automation activities of medium to high complexity related to software components
- You will be required to do development work related to software testing frameworks
- Given the mission critical nature of our business, strong emphasis is placed on quality, security, availability, resiliency, scalability, performance, and system resources consumption
- It is expected that suitable candidates adhere to a structured testing environment and will actively contribute to delivering software to the quality expectations of our customers
- As a Test Engineer, you will be part of a dynamic team of professionals and applying agile software developments, DevOps/testing/automation and delivery practices
- You will actively participate in the whole cycle of development of new user stories: requirements review, solution design, testing plan and development testing
- Understanding problems, solutions and ensuring the overall consistency of the software will be one of your primary objectives
- You will share team commitments and own some parts of those solutions
- You will perform software delivery tasks (builds, installation of release on test environments, etc)

- Collaborate with team members to identify system requirements, develop effective strategies and test plans
- Work with cross-functional teams to ensure quality throughout the software development lifecycle
- Create detailed, comprehensive and well-structured test plans and test cases
- Estimate, prioritize, plan and coordinate testing activities
- Design, develop, execute and maintain test cases (manual or automated) and analyse results
- Report bugs and errors to the team
- Help troubleshoot issues

Our take
SWIFT was founded in 1973 to serve as the bedrock of the international payments system. A cooperative society which is owned by its member financial institutions, it is a vital piece of the global financial infrastructure, securely transmitting payment instructions between over 11,000 institutions in almost every country. SWIFT handles half of all international transactions, on average 40 million every day.
SWIFT's only direct competition in the traditional cross-border payments sector are bodies such as China's CIPS and Russia's SFMS. Yet, lacking the trust and membership of SWIFT these are unlikely to make serious inroads in the international payments sector.
In recent years, the competitive landscape for international transfers has been disrupted by the large-scale uptake of cryptocurrency. SWIFT has not been immune, facing competition from high-speed blockchain payment networks such as Ripple. However, SWIFT has moved quickly to adapt, introducing SWIFT Global Payments Innovation (gpi) to increase the speed of transactions to nearly that of its competitors, but with greatly enhanced visibility. It also plans to introduce blockchain technologies, partnering with companies like Chainlink to trial its own cross-chain protocols that will support it in the new financial landscape.
