Who you are

6+ years of experience in product design. SaaS experience is preferred, but not required
A track record of successfully shipping products, solving customer problems that move company metrics
Proficient in user research methodologies and ability to translate research findings into actionable design insights
Experience with modern design tools (Figma, Figma Make) and the willingness to adopt new tools as needed
Excellent communication, collaboration, and presentation skills

What the job involves

We’re seeking a Senior Product Designer to join our global team as our dedicated design presence in EMEA
You’ll play a central role in shaping how legal professionals engage with technology, helping to elevate design quality and innovation across our platform
Design plays an integral role at Clio, making up one of the three pillars of our Research and Development organisation alongside Product Management and Engineering
Product designers directly engage in researching the behaviours and needs of our users
They act as user experience champions as we work to transform the way that lawyers and their staff provide services to their clients
We empower Product Designers to shape how lawyers serve their clients
Work alongside product management and engineering to understand the right problems to solve, and find the right solutions to them
Be responsible for balancing speed, quality, and consistency of design
Advocate for our customers by knowing them and their needs inside out
Join a diversely skilled global design team using modern design tools
Concept, prototype, design and present solutions that solve both business and user problems and deliver measurable outcomes
Be able to articulate the rationale behind your design decisions, and be able to ask difficult questions and challenge assumptions
Potential for mentoring of fellow designers on a range of design practices
Provide thoughtful feedback in team critiques
Break down complex concepts into smaller, more manageable pieces
Conduct user research interviews, usability testing, and analysis
Leverage metrics to drive product design and measure product success
Demonstrate a keen interest in improving your craft by using AI
Be able to adapt your process to the needs of the situation

Our take

Modern law firms increasingly manage their work digitally but the lack of a specialised remote solution means that workflows have become fragmented. This leads to legal practice managers having to juggle multiple software solutions across various devices.

Clio provides a legal practice management platform designed for law firms, allowing users to manage billing for legal aid cases, access and manage documents and store files across multiple devices. Whilst other startups are operating in this niche, Clio has uniquely focussed on synchronisation across remote devices and on a wide range of integrations, allowing the user to access information from other industry standard software such as Xero and Klyant from within a single interface.

Clio has raised a large amount of investment capital and benefited from the COVID-era move to cloud technologies. Most recently, it raised a 2024 Series F round, which saw the company attain a valuation exceeding $3 billion. This funding is being used to accelerate AI development and to allow existing investors and employees to cash out their shares.
