Role
Who you are
- 7+ years in People Operations/Human Resources. Prior experience at a start-up in high-growth mode is a must
- Benefits, compensation, and compliance expertise in People systems (Tools we use: ADP WFN, HiBob, Greenhouse, Sequoia Benefits, etc.)
- Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills, including experience presenting to senior leadership
- Proven track record of prioritization, being data-driven, and achieving results at a tactical and strategic level
- Project management skills to see initiatives from vision to implementation
- Demonstrated ability to work independently when needed and exercise good judgment to determine if others need to be brought into the conversation
- Tech-savvy and able to quickly pick up new processes and software
What the job involves
- As the Director of People, you will manage both the big picture and day-to-day operations of the People function. You’ll play a critical role in supporting a positive and engaging employee experience for our growing and distributed team
- Have full ownership of the day-to-day People function and tools, including benefits administration, HRIS management, HR data integrity, and other core People administration items
- Ensure compliance with all employment laws (federal, state, and local) and regulations across the U.S.; identify gaps and inefficiencies, provide recommendations for improvement, and implement required changes
- Partner with managers to address employee relations issues
- Manage and iterate on Mudflap’s total rewards program, including compensation and benefits, to attract, retain, and motivate top talent
- Communicate and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders (Talent Acquisition, Finance, etc.) and external vendors to streamline and automate processes where possible
- Build and execute people programs across the employee journey that align with our mission and values in partnership with leadership
- Support employees in resolving questions/challenges and provide an excellent experience to the Mudflap team
Our take
Owner-operators make up 9% of the truckers on the road, in other words 680,000 small businesses forming the backbone of the U.S’s crucial trucking industry. However, only big fleets get major fuel discounts because they have large gallon volumes, leaving these self-employed truckers to pay full price.
Mudflap is bringing those savings to owner operators & small fleets. When drivers sign up for the app, they join tens of thousands of users which Mudflap then leverage to drive sales for truck stops who offer discounts on fuel in return. It’s a smart model which massively simplifies the process for earning discounts compared to the old route of a fuel card which requires a credit check.
Stop managers could be sceptical about working with mobile payments in return for a promise of increased demand. However, the company provides its entire network with a Mudflap tablet through which to handle all payment transactions within the network, making it easy for whoever is behind the counter.
