Role
Who you are
- We believe the ideal candidate should have experience in full-stack development with a primary focus on frontend (JavaScript & React) while also being experienced and willing to engage in backend and infrastructure tasks
- Experience leading, supporting and motivating a highly skilled team of software developers, providing guidance and regularly offering constructive feedback
- Excellent understanding of Javascript (ES6), working with frameworks such as ReactJs, Vue, Angular, Node, etc
- Proficiency in HTML and CSS/SASS to create visually appealing and responsive web interfaces
- Good understanding of headless CMS is preferable
- Familiarity with PHP, including experience with frameworks such as Laravel, Symfony, or similar
- Knowledge of systems architecture and web technologies
- Experience deploying to AWS cloud infrastructure (ideally using AWS & Terraform)
- Ability to build & review proposals, designs, and specifications
- Proficiency in working within development pipelines and continuous integration practices to ensure smooth development processes
- Experience in Test-Driven Development (TDD) and Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) methodologies
- Demonstrated experience working in Agile software development teams, particularly using SCRUM methodologies

- We’re on a mission to put a chargepoint everywhere you park, revolutionising the way people charge their electric vehicles and we're searching for a seriously talented Lead Software Engineer (Full Stack) to join our acquisition squad, which is dedicated to building an exceptional website journey for visitors as they transition into happy Pod-Point customers
- The squad looks after all the technical aspects of the core website and investor site and has exciting growth opportunities as an integral part of the company strategy
- Your main gig? Be a hands on technical lead, overseeing the squad to ensure efficient delivery of work to contribute to the best possible user journey for our prospective customers
- Reporting To: Engineering Manager
- Designing, coding, testing, and maintaining software applications relating to your squad’s objectives
- Collaborate across departments to align product development efforts with marketing and sales objectives
- Continuously evaluate and refine acquisition strategies and user experience to meet or exceed customer expectations and business goals
- Work closely with the marketing team to identify and deliver features that directly impact incoming revenue and expand the customer base
- Provide guidance and mentoring to team members, ensuring alignment with project goals
- Regularly offer constructive feedback to promote professional growth and development within the team
- Work effectively within an Agile software team, particularly in a SCRUM environment, to meet project objectives and deadlines

- Phone Interview (15-30 mins):
- Brief phone interview with a member of our Talent Acquisition Team (up to 30 minutes) to find out more about what you’re looking for and your experience in relation to the role

- We will call you on the number provided in your application at an arranged time
- Culture Interview (45 mins):
- This will be an open informal chat lasting up to 45 minutes with the recruiter and someone else from the company. This interview is not specific to your role and you don’t need to prepare anything - we want to get to know the real you!

- Technical Interview (60-90 mins):
- The Technical Interview typically lasting 60-90 minutes. It's based around your experience and knowledge relating to the role you applied for
- Depending on the role you may be provided with a short presentation brief or task to present to the panel. If so we’ll make sure to give you plenty of time to prepare
- This is also a good chance to get to know some of the people you’ll likely be working with and get more in-depth answers to any questions about the role you may have
- Chat with CTO:
- This step aims to offer you insights into the company's vision and culture from a leadership perspective, and it also gives you a chance to ask any questions you may have
- The conversation is expected to last no longer than 30 minutes and will be an informal discussion with our CTO, focused on your background, your interest in Pod Point and your career aspirations
Our take
Electric vehicle adoption has risen dramatically in recent years, but EV infrastructure can still be limiting for drivers. Pod Point solves this problem by making and installing electric charging points in homes and public spaces.
Since its launch, Pod Point has grown to become the UK’s largest provider of electric vehicle chargers, with a number of lucrative partnerships with supermarket chains such as Sainsbury’s, Lidl, and Tesco. Energy giant EDF bought a major stake in the company in 2020, a testament to Pod Point’s viability. Now, the company boasts over 240,000 EV charging points.
The company faces competition from the likes of Chargemaster, but its partnerships, and the backing of EDF, will allow Pod Point to remain a leading player in the EV market.
