Role
Who you are
- We have two System Administrator openings running at the same time, at different levels:
- System Administrator (this one): 3 to 5 years of experience
- Senior System Administrator: 6+ years of experience, with deep production ownership at scale

- We care more about strong fundamentals, curiosity, and attitude than checking every technology box. If you’re excited about infrastructure, automation, and solving real-world problems, we’d love to hear from you
- We’re looking for someone who enjoys learning, takes ownership, and isn’t afraid to dive into unfamiliar technology. You don’t need to know everything on day one, we value people who can figure things out, ask good questions, and continuously improve
- 3 to 5 years of professional experience in systems administration, DevOps, SRE, or platform engineering
- Good understanding of Linux fundamentals
- Basic understanding of networking concepts (DNS, TCP/IP, HTTP, Load Balancers, Firewalls)
- Experience working with at least one major Cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Experience using containers and Kubernetes in development or production environments
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code and automation tools (Terraform, Ansible, Helm, etc.)
- Experience with Git and modern development workflows
- Basic scripting skills in Bash, Python, Go, JavaScript, or a similar language
- Familiarity with monitoring and observability concepts
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Eagerness to learn new technologies and continuously improve
- You’re curious and enjoy learning how systems work
- You have a proactive mindset: when you spot a problem, you take ownership and work towards a solution
- Your sense of humour will bring a new dynamic to the team - you love to have fun while you work!
- You enjoy helping teammates and collaborating across teams

Desirable
- Experience working with high-traffic, large-scale production environments
- Experience with GitOps tools such as ArgoCD or Flux
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions or GitLab CI
- Experience with databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, Redis, MongoDB, or OpenSearch
- Familiarity with Cloudflare, CDNs, reverse proxies, or edge networking
- Exposure to security best practices and incident response
- Experience using AI-powered engineering tools (GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, etc.) to improve productivity and automate operational tasks
What the job involves
- Automate repetitive tasks and contribute to Infrastructure as Code initiatives
- Work closely with developers to troubleshoot issues and improve platform reliability
- Help identify operational bottlenecks and propose improvements
- Help operate and evolve a modern infrastructure platform spanning Cloud services, Kubernetes, and self-managed infrastructure
- Participate in incident response and learn from production events
- Comfortable with the DevOps culture
- Participate in paid on-call rotations to support our critical systems
- Our daily virtual stand-ups are important for us but other than that, you’re free to manage your own time
Our take
Kodify essentially operates two businesses under one umbrella – video content production on one hand, and web development on the other. However, it seems that the company doesn’t simply build sites for other clients, but rather develops and runs high-traffic sites of its own.
Which exact sites these are isn't public knowledge, but Kodify does state that its sites receive over seven million visitors a day. That the company is able to specialise in two separate internet niches might owe partly to the fact that it's been around since 2002, when video streaming and internet entertainment as a whole weren’t as competitive as today.
Kodify is quite a rare company in a way, creating the impression of being something of a throwback dot-com business. This is to its credit, however, showing that the tech industry can still be kept relatively simple and effective. Indeed, the fact that the company has grown to operate out of Barcelona, Los Angeles, and Montreal, and has never had to seek VC investment, indicates that it’s doing plenty right.
