Role
Who you are
- BS or advanced degree in computer science
- 3-5 years of software development experience working on client-side applications
- Expertise in JavaScript, React, GraphQL, HTML, CSS and various front-end frameworks
- Proven experience in client-side software design, implementing reusable components, and ability to work on features independently
- Experience using Git in a professional environment
- Experience in writing automated tests using testing frameworks such as Playwright or Selenium
- Disciplined approach to software design and development and ability to work on features independently (accurately forecast delivery milestones and work with stakeholders to ensure that expectations are met)
- Flexibility; someone who is responsive and comfortable with ambiguity
- Some industry experience with CI/CD pipeline, Docker, and a common cloud service provider
- Understanding of typical web application, SOA and micro services patterns a plus
- Experience at a high-growth startup a plus
What the job involves
- As a Front-End Software Engineer, you will play a key role in the entire software development lifecycle from FE design, build, test and maintain our SmithRx web product suite. You will work with Product and other stakeholders (Business, Backend, UX, etc) and bridge the gap between UI/UX design and technical implementation, taking an active role on both sides and defining how the application looks as well as how it works.
- You will contribute to best practices/methodologies, coding standards and large-scale web design perspectives to our team. We need our engineers to be versatile and driven, display leadership and ownership qualities, and be enthusiastic to take on new challenges as we continue to push technology forward
- Focus on designing, developing and maintaining SmithRx frontend features with a strong depth of knowledge in JavaScript, React, and GraphQL while leveraging CI/CD to iterate quickly
- Collaborate with stakeholders and technical leads to understand functional and technical feasibility of UI/UX designs to produce high-quality, performant, decoupled, and scalable code
- Provide scope and risk estimates for system and feature builds by building technical design documentation
- Continually apply software development best practices, design patterns, tools and technologies
- Troubleshoot production issues by performing triages for issues that arise and performing root cause analysis to prevent future occurrence of issues
- Work with peers to turn technical vision into a tangible roadmap
- Be the cornerstone of a collaborative learning culture through knowledge sharing, mentorship, code reviews, and exploration of new frameworks and paradigms
Our take
PBMs (Pharmacy Benefit Managers) save payers and patients 40% to 50% on prescription drug and related medical costs in the US, compared to what they would spend without them. It’s generally accepted, though, that PBMs are working for profit and not solely on the customers benefit.
SmithRx is a company looking to reduce complications in the current system with its innovative PBM structure. It uses its cloud-based technology to present the most cost effective options transparently to self-insured businesses, supporting them in getting the lowest cost drugs they can, as well as making the transition to these alternatives seamless.
It does this by partnering with innovative drug companies, as well as applying coupons and making use of available savings and assistance programs. As the company does not take economics from the supply chain, it is able to work for its customers with no hidden agendas. Having recently secured funding, the company is looking towards continued growth as well as pursuing leadership in the sector.
