Who you are
- Data Science fundamentals – be a practitioner in data science, ideally with academic training or ability to understand the goals and limitations of different algorithms, data science techniques and model architectures
- Passion for innovation – excitement for the application of AI to hard or wide-ranging problems, and ability to inspire others to think outside-the-box
- Quantitative analysis skills – comfortable analyzing and asking questions of the data as well as working with data scientists and the output of machine learning
- Communication skills – experienced in translating to clients what the data tell us and summaries of technical concepts in presentations and working sessions
- Proven understanding the phrase from Discovery to Delivery of value and can motivate team members through product processes
What the job involves
- The Scientific Product Manager role is a pivotal in Black Swan Data’s R&D investments in Generative AI, used to predict consumer trends with more depth, quality, and precision than ever before
- Work closely with our Data Science team to translate the potential of Large Language Models (LLMs) to solve real-world business problems within Black Swan’s high scale data processing pipelines and suite of existing models and techniques
- Be the bridge with data science, data sets, engineering, and product teams to translate client pain-points and jobs to be done into new software experiences in agile development squads
- Partner with the CTO and technology leads to evaluate and negotiate with Amazon, Google, Microsoft / OpenAI on access to their latest LLM and Foundation Model offerings, in addition to exploring the best open-source options
- Be the articulate champion of our latest R&D, partnering with Sales and Marketing to explain the revolutionary benefits to our clients at the C-suite level
- Prioritise R&D investment – work closely with our data scientists and technical architects on the new wave of machine learning and big data processing investments, translating state-of-the-art research into compelling product features and long-term competitive differentiation
- Advance customer centricity – infuse end user and customer understanding into the product working closely with product design on the SaaS user experience and marketing to translate product features in clear value propositions and training
- Agile product management – effectively listen to internal and external end users, client success and sales, in order to create clear requirements to solve real-world problems, then partner with engineering, product design, and data science on amazing solutions
- Instill confidence with our clients – serve as the subject matter expert in Black Swan methodology and explain this effectively to analysts, managers and executives, working closely with product colleagues and marketing to develop compelling assets and value propositions
- Success will be measured by:
- Ability to turn emerging R&D and product opportunities into a compelling vision with buy-in from Founders and compelling paths to client uptake
- Release of new product functionality that weighs the trade-offs of technical hurdles with the ability to support a multi-million-dollar license pipeline
- Effective interaction with our sales and marketing team in the pre- and post-sales process
