Role
Who you are
- Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science a related technical field or exceptional practical experience
- At least 2 years of People management experience, leading a team of 5-10 direct reports
- 5+ years hands on experience in full-stack development
- Solid backend experience with C# / .NET Core;
- Strong experience in the React ecosystem
- Knowledge and an active interest in Design Patterns and SOLID architecture principles
- Experience with relational and non-relational databases (design, administration, tuning) and with ORM frameworks e.g. Entity Framework, Dapper, etc
- Familiarity with microservices and REST APIs
Desirable
- Experience with development of multiplatform mobile apps
- Experience in building, managing and developing on cloud infrastructure (we use Azure)
- Experience in DevOps tasks and tools (e.g., Git, GitHub, Github Actions, Azure management console)
- Experience in project management tools (e.g. JIRA, ProductBoard, Confluence)
- Familiarity with Python and TypeScript
What the job involves
- We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead one of our product teams within the Signal Ocean SaaS web application. This team focuses on building scalable, reusable components and data-driven features, enabling users to visualize complex shipping information
- Our Tech Stack 1. Backend: C#, .NET Core, Python 2. Frontend: React, TypeScript 3. Data: MongoDB, MSSQL Server, Snowflake, DuckDB, Redis 4. Infrastructure: Kubernetes, Docker, Grafana, InfluxDB 5. Process: Dual-track Agile (Scrum), CI/CD
- Team Leadership & People Development: Mentor, coach, and grow a team of 5–10 engineers. Drive technical excellence through best practices, architecture guidance, and code quality. Support career growth with clear development plans and regular feedback. Manage onboarding for new team members. Facilitate a collaborative, psychologically safe team environment.
- Delivery & Execution: Lead the delivery of roadmap features from discovery to release. Drive technical planning with solution options and clear trade-offs. Ensure observability — monitoring, logging, and alerting for team-owned systems. Step in to unblock engineers as needed (e.g., via pair programming or problem simplification). Balance hands-on technical contributions with leadership responsibilities.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with Product Managers to refine product requirements. Collaborate seamlessly with QA, DevOps, and other stakeholders. Proactively address conflicts and foster team alignment. Organize retrospectives and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
