Who you are
- A passion for leadership and the ability to scale engineering practices in a high-growth environment
- An execution mindset with a strong bias toward delivering and iterating

- Expertise in Laravel and a readiness to work alongside the team, leading by example in the codebase
- At least 2-3 years of experience managing a team of 5-7 engineers
- Proven experience in people management, mentorship, and clear communication
- Demonstrated success in hiring and developing remote engineering teams
- 5+ years of experience in building and deploying scalable production software, including managing system architecture with a focus on reliability, performance, and security
- Experience with Laravel or similar frameworks and deep knowledge of PHP
- Experience in a product-led growth environment is a strong plus
What the job involves
- Givebutter is hiring an Engineering Manager to oversee our backend engineering team and execution
- As a Manager, you will be directly responsible for delivering world-class software to our users, maturing our engineering practices, and growing & leading a team of skilled engineers
- You will report directly to our CTO, Liran Cohen, and carry out our product vision while creating a scaleable engineering culture that breeds innovation
- You will ensure we deliver excellent user experiences on time and retain top-notch security, design, and performance
- You will cultivate a culture of high performers by creating systems that eliminate roadblocks, processes that incentivize excellence, and by being an expert in all things Laravel
- We have already built a great foundation, powering hundreds of millions of donations to over 40k+ organizations, and you will take this impact much further

- Champion code quality across the team and uphold a high standard for maintainable and scalable solutions
Our take
The rise of crowdfunding has helped democratize fundraising for for-profit companies, but the infrastructure for non-profits has lagged behind. Givebutter has set out to change this, supplying a feature-rich, easy to use fundraising platform for the "changemakers of today", which has been used to raise billions of dollars for good causes.
Crucially, unlike other crowdfunding platforms, 100% of the donation typically goes to the campaign, with Givebutter making its money entirely through tips and occasional but transparent transaction fees. In 2022, the company raised capital that has been put to work developing the product to be fit for all types of fundraising.
Having already seen impressive success in certain segments, these new development efforts will help expand Givebutter's reach. For example, it launched a CRM to help it reach more small, local nonprofits, and has released the industry's first donor-advised fund (DAF) donate button, through which donors can recommend a nonprofit for a donation in just three clicks.
