Who you are

You’ve led cross-functional programs before with ideally 6+ years in high-growth or technical environments
You’re technically fluent: maybe you’ve got a degree in Computer Science or just years of real-world experience with engineering teams
Experience working with product security teams and effectively serving as the connector between product security and engineering, ensuring alignment and seamless collaboration across complex, cross-functional initiatives
Proven experience leading Agile/Scrum execution. You have facilitated sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily standups, reviews, and retrospectives and acted as Scrum Master when needed to prioritize security work with Engineering, remove blockers, and drive predictable delivery
You know how to influence without authority and bring structure without red tape
If you’ve worked in fast-moving engineering environments, know how to herd cats without breaking their stride, and can turn ambiguity into momentum, you’ll fit right in

Desirable

Experience with security-focused or compliance-driven engineering orgs
Familiarity with frameworks like OWASP or SAMM
A deep respect for secure-by-default systems and a genuine love for open source communities

What the job involves

We’re looking for a Senior Technical Program Manager who can help steer important, high-impact initiatives across teams
You’ll be a key partner to engineering, product, and security teams to keep work unblocked, aligned, and steadily shipping
You’ll translate strategy into motion, and motion into results
This is a hands-on role for someone who’s equal parts planner, doer, and communicator
You’ll be building the foundation for how secure software gets delivered at Chainguard and across the industry
Wrangle complexity: Help break down big ideas and thorny problems into well-scoped, achievable plans
Drive alignment. Translate vision into shared goals across teams, then keep those efforts focused and moving forward
Own delivery. From kickoff through launch, you’ll track progress, manage risk, and make sure we ship with confidence
Bring clarity. Keep stakeholders informed, flag blockers early, and use data to guide decisions when tradeoffs are tough
Be the duct tape. Work across engineering, product, security, and leadership to keep everyone on the same page

Our take

Developers rely on open source code and apps in their day to day work, but when the provenance of the code is unknown this creates potential weaknesses that cybercriminals can exploit. Chainguard exists to build security into the coding supply chain by making it possible for companies to enforce security policies based on auditable signatures baked into the code, and by providing a security-first set of container images with no known vulnerabilities for cloud app developers.

In the wake of huge cyber attacks like the Log4j vulnerability and Solarwinds breach, software supply chain security has been an area of major focus for startups hoping to solve problems in this sector. However, most of these focus on scanning and detection of threats. Chainguard's approach comes from the other end of the process, focusing on building security into the software itself. It was built by former Google engineers aware of software developers existing workloads, so is designed to be easily installed and integrated into existing automation systems like Terraform.

Chainguard completed a Series C funding round led by Lightspeed Ventures in 2024, minting it as a new Unicorn on the cybersecurity scene. It is using this funding to expand its go-to-market internationally and expand its Chainguard Images product.
