Who you are
- Bachelor's degree
- 5+ years of technical recruiting experience
- Experience as an in-house recruiter
- Experience Recruiting Electrical, Mechanical, OR Hardware Engineering is Required
Desirable
- Experience working in a start-up environment
- Experience working under OFCCP rules
- Experience with in-house recruiting
- Experience recruiting electrical, mechanical and software engineers
- Ability to distinguish between the top 50% and the top 5% of talent within their respective fields
- Demonstrated expertise in non-standard recruiting methods: cold calling candidates and companies, organizing and executing ad hoc networking events, identifying industry experts and finding unique methods to engage with them, creating unique targeted sourcing campaigns, etc
- Comfortable interfacing directly with hiring managers including Director and VP level technical leaders
- Ability to build strong relationships with both hiring managers and candidates
- Ability to accurately present but not oversell candidates to client groups; influence decisions by acting as the subject matter expert on talent but avoid dictating client decisions
- Ability to multi-task and operate with little direction while still being an active team member
What the job involves
- As a Boring Company Senior Technical Recruiter, you will help build a world-class recruiting program charged with identifying, attracting, and hiring top engineering talent
- You will source, screen, interview, and help onboard entry-level and executive candidates and will interact with engineers and key stakeholders
- In many cases, you are candidates’ first encounter with The Boring Company and it is your job to represent the company with professionalism, pride, and enthusiasm
- This position requires a high degree of autonomy and someone who can take initiative, take responsibility, and run with tasks to completion
- Meet with your hiring managers to discuss headcount, new requisitions, job postings, hiring strategy, and/or interview feedback
- Create creative sourcing strategies to identify top engineers
- Build relationships and serve as the main point-of-contact for TBC engineering teams, career center personnel, college faculty, and student organizations
- Discuss candidates you have screened with your hiring managers and recommend top candidates for interviews
- Once candidates are approved for hire, you will begin the HR onboarding process including initiating background checks, completing reference checks, negotiating offer packages including extending offer letters, and issuing new hire paperwork
- Identify problems and recommend/implement solutions
- Train managers and employees on recruiting and interviewing best practices
- Plan, coordinate, and lead the execution of all logistical elements for on-campus and conference marketing efforts
- Co-manage EEO/OFCCP compliance including the EEO-1 annual survey submission

Though founded by serial antagoniser Elon Musk, The Boring Company’s underground transportation projects have led to the firm becoming a certified unicorn since its founding in 2016. Inspired by the congested transport system of Los Angeles, The Boring Company has completed successful tunnel projects in Las Vegas as well as products that help transport materials underground with as little disruption as possible.
In April 2022, The Boring Company received $675 million in Series C from the likes of Sequoia Capital and Valor Equity Partners, indicating a massive influence on the construction market of America.
Musk undermines the success of The Boring Company with website advertisements for zombie apocalypse “not-a-flamethrowers” and a perfume retail page for his “Burnt Hair” fragrance. Though obviously meant as jokes, these belittle and obfuscate the work that The Boring Company's employees put in. 2024 saw safety violations being raised concerning the Boring Company's Vegas tunnel, which will span 68 miles beneath the Nevada city.
