Role
Who you are
- We are looking for an experienced Machine Learning engineer with a deep understanding and/or interest in generative modeling, Natural Language Processing (NLP), and Large Language Models (LLMs)
- Thought leadership to ideate with business leaders, identify areas of opportunity, and influence decisions
- Curiosity to understand business needs and translate them to the right questions to ask of the data
- Ability to come up with insights from data and influence stakeholders to take action
- Excellent partnership and communication skills
- Expertise in ML, including deep learning, NLP, LLMs, and other generative modeling techniques
- You're self-motivated, and take ownership and responsibility
- You love working with smart, fun, sincere and dedicated peers
- You want to be the one to make it happen
- You are resilient and can cope with ambiguity
- Comfortable in a fast-paced and at times unpredictable start-up environment

What the job involves
- Develop ML/AI models based on text data using our catalog of more than 1 Million books!
- Work with latest technologies in generative AI including GPT-4, ChatGPT, and text-to-image models such as Stable Diffusion
- Develop models to improve the prompts that are input into generative models, models to evaluate AI-generated outputs, and models that incorporate and learn from human feedback
- Partner closely with the Product and Engineering teams to test out prototypes in the product with real users

Our take
As people trend more towards digital hang-outs and social media to connect, the traditional book club has fallen from favour. Fable provides an online alternative with millions of ebooks that come paired with digital links, pictures, and user interfaces, each of which can be engaged with through comment sections and other discussion tools.
Fable launched during social-distancing restrictions, when book clubs could no longer meet, as an alternative to platforms like Zoom which do not facilitate the same sort of engagement as in-person clubs. However, its discussion tools, alongside the fact that people can easily find clubs that focus on their favourite genres and authors, have made it a favourable option to regular book clubs for many readers even as things have returned to normal.
Fable hosts hundreds of book clubs, including influencer-led groups and premium clubs hosted by the likes of LeVar Burton, Sean Astin, and Paris Hilton. It has raised impressive funding and launched "Fable for Work" - featuring career-focussed book recommendations from executive titans - with investment cited to accelerate growth in both consumer and enterprise segments.
