Who you are
- Minimum of 10 years in API technologies
- Proven track record in developing standards and specifications in open banking and open finance
- In-depth understanding of RESTful APIs and related standards such as JSON and OAS3
- In-depth understanding of JWT and related standards
- Familiarity with ISO messaging standards in both payment and insurance sectors
- Excellent working knowledge of typescript, javascript and MongoDB
- Ability to work with CI/CD pipelines, bash, docker and k8s
- Excellent oral and written English communication skills
- Strong stakeholder management skills for effective collaboration
- Detailed understanding of both payment and insurance sectors
- Willingness to travel for on-site client engagements in various regions
What the job involves
- Ozone API is seeking an experienced API Architect to join our dynamic team
- The Principal Architect will play a crucial role in the development and implementation of open banking and open finance APIs around the world
- The position, based in the UK, will report to the CTO with a dotted line reporting into the Head of Standards
- It will involve some travel for on-site client engagements in regions such as MENA, APAC, North America, and LATAM
- The successful candidate will leverage their extensive API technology expertise to contribute to the creation of world-class API standards and infrastructure
- API Specification Development:
- Develop API specifications for diverse open banking, open finance, and open data use cases
- Interpret and adapt global best practices to create comprehensive standards
- API Security Model Definition:
- Define API security models based on the OpenID Foundation's FAPI profile
- Ensure robust and effective security measures in compliance with industry standards
- Consent Model Development:
- Create scalable and flexible consent models for data sharing and service initiation
- Address a wide array of open finance and embedded finance use cases
- OpenAI Specification Writing:
- Write OpenAI specifications to articulate API endpoints, data models, and state models
- Ensure clarity and precision in documentation for seamless implementation
- API Solution Delivery
- Use the Ozone API Platform to create end-to-end implementations of open finance standards
- Work with the engineering, QA and product team to deliver complex changes to the Ozone API Platform
- Collaboration and Stakeholder Management:
- Work closely with internal teams, contractors, trade bodies, standards bodies, partners, and customers (including banks and central banks/regulators)
- Collaborate to deliver high-quality API standards that meet the needs of the industry
Our take
Open banking looks set to reshape the financial services industry, but it can be difficult for existing banks and financial institutions to make the switch from traditional systems. Ozone API is here to empower that transition, supplying compliant open APIs for these institutions to make use of open finance to build partnerships, distribute products and drive new revenue streams.
The company's suite of products are designed to supply compliance from the start, handling the complexities of online banking so that clients can focus their development talent elsewhere. Ozone's technology is available in three configurations - the full open API solution, a fully managed SaaS version known as Ozone API Hub, or Ozone API Sandbox which comes pre-configured with one or more ‘model banks’ - meaning it can cater for a range of business needs.
With the platform's ability to support all global standards, which has gained it trust from regulators across the world, Ozone API has the opportunity to expand across the globe. An £8.5 million funding round secured in 2024 will fuel this expansion, as the company looks to play a part in the wider onset of open banking.
