Who you are
- 5+ years of experience in strategic finance, FP&A, investment banking, or private equity
- Strong understanding of financial modeling, cash management, and capital planning
- Exceptional quantitative skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and align stakeholders
- Proven ability to balance detail-oriented execution with strategic perspective
- Proficient in SQL
Desirable
- Experience at high-growth fintechs, technology companies, or scaling startups
- Exposure to small business lending or financial services is a plus
- Track record of driving margin improvement and financial discipline in fast-paced environments
- MBA preferred
What the job involves
- We are looking for a Finance Lead to own and scale the financial strategy that powers our business
- This is a highly strategic position that will sit at the center of decision-making across the company
- You’ll lead financial planning, oversee cash management, and serve as a thought partner to leadership and all teams, ensuring we maximize margins, deploy capital efficiently, and position the company for sustainable growth
- Lead financial planning and analysis (FP&A) across the company — building models, forecasts, and strategic plans to guide decision-making
- Manage cash planning and liquidity, ensuring capital is deployed effectively and aligned with growth objectives
- Serve as a strategic partner to product, operations, and go-to-market teams, helping identify opportunities to improve unit economics and margins
- Build a company-wide financial strategy that balances growth and profitability
- Create and track KPIs that align financial performance with business outcomes
- Provide regular reporting and insights to leadership and the board
Our take
Parafin is a fintech platform helping SMBs access growth capital. It targets platforms where SMBs sell and transact and offers an embedded finance solution with which these platforms can offer loans ranging from $500 to $10M. Parafin provides the capital for these loans and assumes the risk, allowing platforms to offer competitively attractive incentives to help them draw in a larger proportion of the growing SMB market.
Parafin’s focus on SMB growth funding is canny. Most worldwide businesses fall into the SMB category, but funding access for these businesses shrunk dramatically post-pandemic when traditional banks became more conservative with their loan approvals. This exacerbates SMB cash-flow issues, which reportedly already account for more than four in five SMB failures.
This means Parafin is helping platforms fill a growing and crucial market niche. With leadership from former Robinhood employees, confident funding from major players including the founders of Robinhood, DoorDash, and Plaid, and partnerships with Amazon, Parafin looks poised to net a substantial and lucrative market.
