Who you are

Have at least five years of experience in software development
Can dive into code bases and current design work after initial onboarding
Deep understanding of SQL and SQL queries
Experience with time series databases
Experience with GraphQL
Experience with data modeling
Experience leading a development team as a lead developer or an engineering manager
Be able to make pragmatic decisions understanding short-term achievements vs. long-term improvements
Experience as a Scrum Master (certification not required) or a Technical Lead
Experience leading a development team or as an Engineering Manager

What the job involves

We are therefore seeking a Backend Software Developer who will be a critical driver of designing, implementing, and delivering those features
You will directly contribute to solving the hardest technical challenges we face, which are incredibly unique and varied at this intersection of mission-critical equipment, cloud-native apps, predictive maintenance, and energy management
Backend development with an emphasis on database/code optimization
Lead by an example with hands-on development work but also be able to mentor good practices as we grow and learn
Contribute to existing design reviews and improvement work

Our take

Cooling systems currently burn through nearly a third of electricity worldwide, and this consumption is expected to skyrocket over the next century. It’s one of the main contributors to greenhouse gas emissions, to the extent that in the US, the EPA has called out and cracked down on the retail refrigeration sector. With the spotlight sharpening on the need to make refrigeration more sustainable, Axiom Cloud could be in for a bright future.

The company has developed a suite of apps to assist in the powering, operation, and maintenance of commercial refrigeration systems, using AI, automation, and IoT to help predict and resolve equipment issues and refrigerant leaks. The company is also piloting an innovative load shifting project to help grocery stores reduce the strain their refrigeration units place on the national grid.

These capabilities are likely to prove appealing to organizations under increasing regulatory pressure to introduce energy-saving and emissions-reducing refrigeration measures. With the problem (and therefore the regulatory restrictions) expected only to grow, Axiom Cloud’s tech-forward solution looks set to see strong uptake.
