Who you are

Understanding of OTT content delivery & how it drives internet traffic
Knowledge of internet protocols and how they fit together to give delivery at the application layer, such as IPv4/IPv6, TCP/UDP, DNS, HTTP. Basic knowledge of more sophisticated protocols like BGP, OSPF, ISIS, MPLS and QoS mechanisms is useful
Some familiarity with Git, Docker, Ansible, Grafana, REST APIs and Terraform is desirable
A desire to solve problems along with a dedication to improving processes and a strong attention to detail
Ideally you will have a degree in a STEM subject or equivalent professional certification, eg CCNA

What the job involves

Operate, optimise & troubleshoot content delivery networks & systems so that Sky’s customers can enjoy the great content they love
Ensure effective monitoring and logging for our services, connecting raw indicators to key metrics that our customers care about
Participate in an on-call rota pattern, providing 24/7, layer 2/3/4 critical issue support to our Group Platform Control team
Work with our external partners & vendors, e.g. Akamai, AWS Cloudfront, Conviva, Google, Netflix to maintain and improve their service via data-driven regular service reviews

Sky formed through the merger of Sky Television and British Satellite Broadcasting in 1990, making it the UK's largest pay-TV company.
