Role
Who you are
- 5+ years experience in building and maintaining high-performance backend systems using server-side programming languages, with a strong proficiency in Go
- Hands-on experience with MongoDB (or other NoSQL database) is essential for data management and storage, including schema design and performance optimization
- Knowledge and understanding of modern web services architectures (e.g., RESTful APIs, microservices)
- Experience building and maintaining automated test suites
- While a formal degree is valued, we prioritize relevant experience and a strong portfolio of work
What the job involves
- As Senior Software Engineer, Backend, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and scaling the backend platform solutions that directly impact millions of users by empowering healthier lives
- You will lead complex projects from discovery to delivery phases, working primarily with Go and MongoDB as part of a small, cross-functional team to deliver features on our roadmap, continually maintaining and improving a specific area of our platform, and contributing to the future of our technology
- You’ll be responsible for large pieces of work, as well as setting best practices and mentoring other members of the team
- Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable backend services, and data storage solutions using Go, MongoDB, and related technologies, ensuring adherence to engineering best practices
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, proactively identifying root causes
- Actively participate in technical design and planning discussions, contributing to system design and documentation (including ADRs)
- Uphold code quality standards through code reviews, bug fixes, automated tests, and performance monitoring
- Lead complex projects from discovery to delivery phases, including requirement gathering, design, development, testing, and deployment
- Mentor junior engineers, fostering their growth and development
- Compliance with Information Security Policies
- Compliance with League’s secure coding practice
- Responsibility and accountability for executing League's policies and procedures
- Notification of HR, Legal, Compliance & Security of any incidents, breaches or policy violations
