Who you are

Strong team leadership ability is required, with 10+ years experience as a direct manager of teams in a customer-facing technical pre-sales role, and 5+ years managing managers
Experience with strategic planning and setting strategies for Technical Presales teams and advising non-Technical Sales teams
Ability and desire to build strong cross-functional relationships, particularly with Product and post-sales teams (Customer Success, Professional Services)
Experience building programs that have impact and reach across teams
Hands-on approach to problem solving. Always ready to work opportunities directly alongside your team when needed
Ability and desire to teach both Solutions Engineers, Account Executives, and GTM leadership
A strong understanding of Software Sales cycles, ideally with a background in Value Selling complex SaaS solutions
A world class communicator. Confident in influencing and engaging with a highly skilled and experienced audience including C-level executives

What the job involves

Twilio Segment is growing rapidly and seeking a Head of Global Solutions Engineering to be a key leader in our global sales organization
This role will partner with and report to the VP of Global Sales. You will set the strategy and direction for our Solutions Engineering organization across North America, Latin America, Europe and APJ
You will also take a hands-on approach to developing new leaders and helping your team scale processes globally
As the Solutions Engineering leader, you will partner with sales, post-sales and engineering to create cross-functional systems and operations
This position is critical to ensuring the continued success of our sales team

Our take

Traditionally, it has been difficult for businesses to establish communications systems in-house. Twilio was founded from frustration with this expensive and cumbersome process, providing easy-to-use APIs to let businesses send and receive telephone and text communications.

From these beginnings, the company has expanded through acquisitions and product development to provide a suite of services around market data and customer engagement. It is now a market leader in this space, and has developed a customer base of more than 150,000 businesses including enterprise brands such as Deliveroo, Duolingo and Toyota.

Although aggressive expansion and lack of maturity in some of its products in the past impacted the company's efficiency, a 2023 restructuring addressed these problems and allowed it to remain competitive. The company has since focussed on profitability, streamlining decision making and R&D to put itself in good stead for future success.
