What the job involves
- As we continue to scale, AWS is seeking a dynamic Senior Sales Leader to own and accelerate growth across the U.S. Startup segment
- You will lead a team of Account Managers who support early stage startups, helping customers build, grow, and scale their businesses on AWS
- This leader will be responsible for driving revenue, customer success, and cloud adoption through high-touch engagement, executive sponsorship, and ecosystem development
- In this role, you’ll shape our go-to-market strategy, coach and grow a high-performing sales team, and collaborate across AWS business development, solution architecture, marketing, and partner teams to deliver exceptional outcomes
- You’ll also play a key role in deepening AWS’s presence in the broader startup ecosystem, including venture capital, accelerators, and incubators, as we continue to support disruptive innovation across industries
- Build, lead, and inspire a field sales team supporting high-growth startups
- Own the full talent lifecycle for your team, including performance management, pipeline development, and career growth
- Engage directly with startup Founders, CxOs, boards, and key VC stakeholders to drive cloud strategy and business transformation
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., Solutions Architecture, Business Development, Marketing, Partners, Training) to align on customer acquisition and success plans
- Guide strategic account planning and execution to deliver revenue growth, customer satisfaction, and adoption milestones
- Develop executive relationships with key customers and deliver business reviews with AWS senior leadership
- Identify new go-to-market opportunities and develop mechanisms to accelerate time-to-value for customers

Amazon is the world's largest online retailer, and is well-known for its disruption of well-established industries. The company is present in numerous verticals, including cloud computing with Amazon Web Services, AI with its range of Alexa devices and a global marketplace more commonly referred to as 'the everything store'. Acquisitions include Ring, Twitch, Whole Foods Market, and IMDb.
More recently, Amazon has been focused on leading the "third wave in digital advertising". Many businesses are now shifting ad dollars to retailers, which before would have been spent with online media platforms. Amazon's seen great success in the space, with its revenue from advertising now higher than its Amazon Prime membership scheme, audiobooks and digital music combined. This growth is particularly impressive considering its digital ad rivals (like Snap, Alphabet, and Meta) have suffered declines due to wider macroeconomic factors and Apple's iOS privacy changes.
Despite its dominant market position, Amazon will continue to be challenged over the next decade, including sustaining AWS's cloud dominance in the face of Google and Microsoft. On top of this, the company's e-commerce division is facing profitability problems despite its 2023 post-IPO debt funding of 8 billion. It will need to find new ways to stay above their competitors.
