Who you are
- 2+ years of engineering management experience with significant experience as a software engineer
- Good technical sense with specific experience working on scalability issues
- Product sense and understanding of customer needs
- Experience owning a production product and working with a product manager and/or business partners to drive business impact

What the job involves
- Our User Data team empowers OneSignal customers with a Customer Data Platform that serves as a real-time system of record for user and audience data. It also provides timely and useful insights to our customers to understand and engage their users optimally
- As the Engineering Manager for that team, you'll own significant projects directly impacting our platform's performance and features
- Your expertise will shape the way businesses engage with their users
- Work on large-scale foundational problems related to a real-time system of record for users and audience data
- Actively participate in Technical Spec reviews for your team, providing valuable technical insights to improve our product continuously
- Build high-performing teams - enabling and empowering your direct reports paired with recruiting great new talent
- Set team strategy in partnership with product management counterparts & managing execution (eg planning, sprints, etc.)
- Coordinate with relevant platform-level teams, to deliver on objectives and create longer-term strategies
- People management of engineers - including career growth, performance management, promotions and feedback
Our take
OneSignal was born out of the frustration of game developers with existing push notification tools, that were not developer-friendly and did not give them a good way to re-engage users and bring them back into the game. After building its own push notification system to address these issues, the company quickly found a market gap for an easy, developer-friendly push notification system for all apps, that could be utilised by any size company.
Today, they are a customer engagement platform of choice implemented by over 1 million businesses. OneSignal's web and mobile SDK is simple for developers to install, and for marketers to use, supplying omnichannel messaging across web-and-mobile push, in-app messaging, SMS, and email.
Although there is notable competition in the space, from companies such as Braze and CleverTap, OneSignal claims uniqueness with its focus on “intelligent delivery”, which schedules notifications for the time of day users most interact with the app. The company has raised substantial funds, both in the past and more recently, that will be invested in machine learning projects, geographic expansion, and growing its team.
