Who you are
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing or related field
- 7+ years of progress responsibilities including experience in online marketing, brand marketing and/or communication experience
- Beauty industry experience is required
- Excel in fast paced environment with great multitasking skills with ability to focus on details and project management while being able to think big picture and strategy at the same time
- Proven track record of delivering results and managing/developing direct reports
- Strong communication, organization, and influencing skills with impeccable attention to detail with high degree of accuracy
- Ability to work extremely well across functions, successfully bringing people together toward common goals and to consensus
- Ability to manage multiple projects, people, and initiatives in parallel
- Go-getter: sense of urgency: Exceptional project management experience and ability to work well under pressure
- Proven ability to lead (a high performance team), build relationships, and work effectively in a cross-functional team environment
What the job involves
- Lead the Brand Marketing team and cross-functional partners to seamlessly execute brand campaigns and brand marketing projects from start to finish, streamlining processes and helping with long-term planning to set up our team to create our best work
- Develop CRM and retention messaging and strategies to develop broader engagement strategy for consumers
- Develop pitches for specific branded campaigns for vendor partners, and serve as the main point of contact for partners throughout the execution of the campaign
- Oversee social strategy and growth, primarily through Instagram and TikTok
- Oversee growth marketing strategy and tactics focused on acquiring consumers and optimizing conversion throughout the consideration funnel
- Report on major Brand Marketing initiatives and efforts on a recurring basis, ensuring findings are effectively delivered to the team
- Analyze appropriate brand metrics for all brand initiatives against KPI goals to evaluate and optimize key initiatives
- Lead strategy and execution on all offline and experiential brand elements including but not limited to: activations, events, collateral, and PR
Our take
Over the last few years, the Western world has become pretty taken with Korean film & TV, pop music, and “K-Beauty”. Thanks to brands like Dr.Jart+, Peach & Lily, and Soko Glam, Korean beauty products are now accessible and budget-friendly in Western markets.
Soko Glam launched back in 2012 in what was then a fairly cold market, but as the popularity of K-Beauty took hold, the company was well-positioned to grow in tandem. Indeed, co-founder Charlotte Cho is now partly credited with making the 10-step skincare routine as popular as it is today.
Now, it’s one of the most high-profile eCommerce companies in its niche, growing impressively with a small team and relatively little funding. While its position in the US is pretty secure, it’ll be interesting to see how Soko Glam performs on the international market as more local brands emerge in the space.
