Role
Who you are
- 3+ years of industry experience in building high quality code and infrastructure
- Have a level of expertise in one or more of networking, distributed systems, storage, databases, operating systems, and runtimes to be able to read research papers in the field and design systems based on them
- Experience with a low-level programming language such as Rust, C/C++
- Experience with backend systems and scaling high throughput applications
- Experience with building user-facing products
- A passion for continuously improving infrastructure
- We especially encourage engineers that fulfill some of the above with no prior experience of working on blockchain technologies
What the job involves
- As part of our greater Sui Core team, the Product Infrastructure group is responsible for developing the infrastructure that enables building services on top of the Sui blockchain
- Right now we’re focusing on building a reliable, performant and extensible indexing framework (both for internal usage and the larger community), analytics pipeline, as well as a variety of backend services supporting MystenLabs initiatives like zkLogin or Oracles
- They have core expertise in designing systems involving asynchronous networking, safe distributed systems (byzantine and crash-tolerant), distributed storage, and high performance execution runtimes for VMs
- They work closely with programming language technologies experts to ensure execution engines run correctly, and efficiently and product engineers to ensure the platform supports the transactions and operations required by users
Our take
Mysten Labs was created with the ambition to build a blockchain comparable to Ethereum or Solanan - but with even greater capabilities. That means tackling pain points currently found in blockchain technology, like scaling transactions and speed to meet growing demand.
To do this, Mysten is building foundational infrastructure for Web 3.0 which supports the accelerated development and adoption of decentralized services. The startup is determined to build a platform that finally lets Web 3.0 developers focus on UI, without compromising on security.
The company has focussed on expanding partnerships with existing networks such as Ethos and Orange Comet Partners, who have integrated Mysten technology, as well as open protocols based on Mysten-designed components. Ensuring that it assigns developer and community outreach resources in the right places will be crucial to building a sustainable business in this relatively young space.
