Role
Who you are
- You take pride in delivering high-quality and powerful products, including SaaS, to customers while also championing technical excellence
- You have 3+ years of experience as a software engineer, including familiarity with the different pieces of technology involved in building modern web applications
- You have experience developing backends in Ruby
- You have experience with modern front-end technologies such as React and TypeScript, and enjoy working on the client-side
- You’ve worked with a variety of web APIs and developed backend services using modern OOP practices
- You have a strong understanding of relational or NoSQL databases and the ability to diagnose performance bottlenecks
- You've helped your teams solve high-scale challenges, integrate systems, or harden your product’s security posture
- You're excited to work collaboratively within engineering and across functional teams
- You’re eager to contribute your ideas and experiences to help Affinity continuously improve as a product and as a company
What the job involves
- Reporting to our Senior Engineering Manager, you'll have the opportunity to push our product and platform in new directions while also shaping the next iterations of the features our customers already love
- You'll help to drive the technical roadmap and implementation for the future of our external API layer, as well as our 3rd party integration platform
- From front-end usability to backend algorithms, async workers, to event-driven messaging systems, you'll hone your skills across multiple domains while helping to drive forward the Affinity product and vision
- Own product areas that are critical to the success of our customers and our business
- Drive the technical best practices for our APIs and integrations that allow our platform to exceed its performance goals and help to increase engineering velocity
- Work with world-class engineering, product, and design teams - you'll have the opportunity to learn from a wide variety of experiences and, of course, to share your own
- Grow your expertise and fluency with core pieces of technology across the entire application stack
- Our platform is built with React and TypeScript on the front end, and with Ruby and PostgreSQL on the back end. Our infrastructure is hosted by AWS and runs on Kubernetes
Our take
Up to 90% of company profiles in traditional customer relationship management systems (CRMs) are incomplete or out-of-date, causing missed sales opportunities and wasted time. Affinity exists to change this state of affairs, using AI to analyse a company's communications and interactions to provide the most accurate profile possible, powering sales and excellent customer relationships.
While other modern CRMs exist, few of them are able to automate data input on the scale of Affinity, which has processed around 20 trillion emails and hundreds of thousands of calendar events to date. It also focuses on industries that are underserved in the CRM sector, including investment banking and real estate. This has grown it a client base of more than 3,000 customers including major enterprises such as Bain Capital Ventures, Nike and Twilio.
Affinity is focusing on expanding its sales, marketing, and engineering teams to grow its customer base and develop new products. As companies look to both improve the performance of their sales teams and reduce costs in manual data entry, Affinity's product is likely to remain extremely popular.
