Role

Who you are

  • Solid experience as a Data Engineer
  • Strong knowledge of Spark (Scala, Databricks, or PySpark — PySpark is ideal, but not required)
  • Proven track record with ETL/ELT pipelines and large-scale data processing
  • Hands-on experience with Python and SQL
  • Comfortable working with unstructured data
  • Experience with workflow orchestration tools like Airflow or AWS Step Functions
  • Familiarity with the AWS ecosystem (Glue, EMR, DynamoDB, etc.)
  • You've built full features from idea to production: planning & scoping → architecture → coding → release
  • You're based in Europe with at least a few hours overlap with GMT+3

  • Have worked with AI/ML tools or LLMs
  • Care deeply about code quality and system design
  • Are curious about the creator economy (we’ll help you get up to speed)

What the job involves

  • Behind the scenes, we’re building the world-class data platform that powers creator discovery for thousands of companies — and we’re looking for a hardened Senior Data Engineer to shape the direction of the creator economy
  • We’re not a service function — data engineering is a core product capability at Modash, building products for customers to use. You’ll own projects end-to-end, from idea to launch
  • Here’s a typical day:
  • Start your day with a short standup
  • Heads-down focus time to plan, build, iterate, and launch
  • Minimal meetings — maximum ownership
  • You’ll be working on big, impactful projects like:
  • Building a creator search engine indexing 200M+ influencer profiles
  • Creating an understanding of the creators location, age, and interests at scale
  • Creating systems to extract audience demographics from raw social data
  • Shaping the future of AI-assisted search, exploring how LLMs and embeddings can enhance search and recommendations
  • You won’t be patching pipelines — you’ll be creating data products from scratch that directly impact customers
  • At Modash, data engineering isn’t a support function — it’s at the heart of the product. You’ll be part of a growing team of 4 data engineers, working alongside 4 backend engineers as part of our broader data organization

  • AWS with Pulumi (IaC)
  • Spark (EMR) — mostly PySpark
  • Airflow for orchestration
  • DynamoDB, S3, Glue, Kinesis, Lambda, ECS
  • GitHub, Confluence, Miro, Jira
