What the job involves
- We’re looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to lead our Infrastructure Engineering team responsible for building and maintaining robust, scalable infrastructure and services
- This is a dynamic and driven team of engineers ranging from junior to senior levels who are aligned on a mission and solving extremely challenging problems at global scale
- The team is responsible for building eBay’s cloud platform capabilities in the area of infrastructure that help eBay meet our operational requirements and enable our other engineering teams to deliver their services with high efficiency and minimal friction
- You will serve in a leadership role, helping to build the roadmap and set the direction for our engineering efforts
- Analyze and break down business requirements into phases of implementation
- Participate in the recruiting process as we expand our infrastructure engineering staff
- Day to day, participate in our agile software development process, writing software to support our infrastructure and operational efforts
- As an infrastructure leader, you will own building and managing a team of infrastructure engineers, fostering a strong team culture
- You’ll help them develop their skills and their careers as you tackle those challenges and contribute to eBay’s overall infrastructure strategy
- You will lead, manage, and develop a team of engineers in the infrastructure organization responsible for delivering platform capabilities that are consumed by all eBay engineering teams
- Lead and coordinate engineering activities to successfully plan, communicate, and deliver on product features on time while designing for quality, observability, and scalability
- Provide technical expertise and software engineering guidance to automate processes and improve team efficiency
- Balance managing technical debt with new feature development and business priorities. Ensure full software lifecycle instrumentation from requirement ideation to software development to deployment
- Collaborate with Cloud engineering, Operations, Product, and PMO to balance resources and project schedules
- Maintain transparent communication across all levels of the organization
- Actively participate in all phases of growing the engineering organization through recruiting, team building, etc
