Who you are
- Proven experience in a customer-facing role, such as onboarding, customer success, or support
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport quickly
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, high volume, dynamic environment, preferably with startup experience
- Ability to manage multiple customers and tasks simultaneously, demonstrating excellent time-management and prioritization skills
- Proficiency with CRM tools (e.g., HubSpot) and a willingness to learn new systems and technologies
- Problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing customer needs
- A customer-centric attitude and a passion for delivering value and building long-term relationships
What the job involves
- As a Customer Onboarding Specialist, you will help newly approved fleets transition seamlessly from sign-up to active usage of the Mudflap fuel card
- You will be responsible for guiding customers through the onboarding journey, ensuring they understand and experience the full value of our services
- Your role is critical in building customer trust, fostering loyalty, and contributing to Mudflap’s growth by driving activation and retention rates
- Lead customers through each stage of onboarding, from card ordering to first swipe completion, ensuring a timely and smooth process
- Educate customers on how to use Mudflap’s fuel card and associated tools effectively, addressing any questions or concerns
- Monitor and track onboarding progress using CRM tools (e.g., HubSpot), ensuring all customer data and interactions are accurately documented
- Identify and resolve onboarding barriers, escalating issues when necessary to internal teams
- Proactively engage with customers to drive card activation and initial usage, focusing on creating long-term value and retention
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine onboarding processes and contribute to scalable best practices
- Deliver exceptional customer experiences by maintaining a professional, empathetic, and customer-focused approach in all interactions
Our take
Owner-operators make up 9% of the truckers on the road, in other words 680,000 small businesses forming the backbone of the U.S’s crucial trucking industry. However, only big fleets get major fuel discounts because they have large gallon volumes, leaving these self-employed truckers to pay full price.
Mudflap is bringing those savings to owner-operators & small fleets. When drivers sign up for the app, they join tens of thousands of users which Mudflap then leverages to drive sales for truck stops which offer discounts on fuel in return. It’s a smart model which massively simplifies the process for earning discounts compared to the old route of a fuel card which requires a credit check.
Stop managers could be sceptical about working with mobile payments in return for a promise of increased demand. However, the company provides its entire network with a Mudflap tablet through which to handle all payment transactions within the network, making it easy for whoever is behind the counter.
