What the job involves
- We're looking for a leader for our Navigation product line and engineering team
- You will work with a passionate group of Mapboxers, customers and market makers redefining the way the world moves
- You'll set the vision, create the strategy and drive the execution to achieve market success by delighting our customers as we embed navigation into the fabric of their applications
- Also, the strategy will change as your portfolio and the market evolve
- You will directly lead product professionals to build the future and leverage shared services to ensure the success of your solution in the wild
- . You will be responsible for and take direct ownership over all facets of the navigation portfolio and product organization
- Your job will be to first pull together product managers from across multiple teams to create a centralized function–and more importantly team
- Orchestrating across the portfolio, you will help drive a solution perspective that looks across individual products to drive outcomes for customers
Our take
Location data platform Mapbox provides custom online maps for an impressive list of apps and websites including Facebook, IBM, Lonely Planet, and Snapchat. It has more than 3.5 million registered developers using its toolkit because of the platform's flexibility, security, and privacy, and has rapidly expanded to become a leading provider of custom map services, competing with companies like Google and Here.
Its more flexible and less costly service is winning it a real edge - and some major Google clients, like Foursquare, who defected in 2012. Its service Mapbox Dash uses the increasingly popular what3words service to offer highly accurate dashboard navigation. Mapbox Dash has already been integrated into General Motors vehicles as Maps+, indicating significant industry support for Mapbox’s software - and a strong strategic eye for new ways of embedding itself into lucrative markets.
Such a promising performance helped Mapbox reach Unicorn status, and more recently secure a strategic partnership with Toyota Motor Europe to provide its maps and location platform in a number of its car models. Paired with its work in digital twinning with Snowflake and recent partnerships with Michelin Mobility, it's clear that Mapbox is doing exciting and important work on a service that has promising, multi-industry applications in a market expected to reach $33.18 billion by 2027.
