R&D Hardware Test Engineer, Figure

• Passionate about discovering hardware problems through rigorous testing and working closely with design engineers to find better solutions
• 4+ years of experience in hardware test engineering with a software focus
• Bachelor's degree or higher in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science, or a related field
• Multidisciplinary knowledge spanning software, firmware, electrical engineering, test procedures, and data analysis
• Proficiency in MATLAB and Python
• Experience with electrical wiring for data acquisition and motor control
• Experience with dyno-based testing systems
• Familiarity with characterization of actuators and force/motion sensors
• Strong experimental, communication, documentation skills

Desirable

• We are seeking an experienced Hardware Test Engineer with a strong software background to join the Hardware Team and lead the testing of our actuators and motion/force sensors
• In this role, you will work closely with hardware design engineers to test the performance of novel hardware and compare it to currently-implimented hardware
• This role will own all software roles related to testing, including writing motor control code, electrical wiring, acquiring sensor data, designing and implementing testing procedures, and data analysis related to test results
• This role will work closely with the mechanical-focused hardware test engineer to own and implement all R&D hardware testing, ensuring the development of robust, high-performance hardware solutions for our humanoid
• Own testing of actuators and sensors, including setup/operation of testing systems
• Analyze test data to extract meaningful insights on hardware performance
• Execute integration of testing fixtures, including instrumentation and wiring
• Perform instrumentation and metrology calibrations for testing systems
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather test requirements and develop clear, actionable test plans
• Provide actionable feedback to hardware R&D engineers, contributing to efficient development of new hardware solutions
• Document integration processes, test plans, and validation results with precision and clarity
• Develop cross-disciplinary knowledge of actuation subsystems to drive continuous improvement
