Who you are
- The ideal candidate has experience in high-growth, operations-driven environments (e.g., e-commerce, managed marketplaces) and a proven track record of leading product teams. They must possess strong user empathy, excellent user experience intuition, and a relentless drive to deliver impactful results
- Proven experience as a consumer product leader in a high-growth company, having scaled teams, products, and operations at significant growth rates
- Deep understanding of consumer products within operations-heavy environments like e-commerce or managed marketplaces
- Demonstrated ability to lead through change, systematically developing and implementing core product management processes that drive meaningful outcomes
- Exceptional skills in customer empathy and the ability to anticipate and solve complex pain points through innovative solutions
- Experience partnering with engineering teams, fostering a collaborative environment that balances product vision with technical feasibility
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with a proven ability to inspire and guide teams through ambitious goals while nurturing individual career development
- Excellent communication skills, capable of articulating complex ideas to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and fostering collaboration across distributed teams

- Preferably based in New York (Brooklyn HQ) with the ability to be in the office a couple of days per week, or willing to travel regularly
What the job involves
- We are seeking a VP of Product who is passionate about driving innovation and delivering meaningful consumer experiences. This leader will play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction of our two-sided marketplace product ecosystem, with a focus on customer retention and growth
- As the VP of Product, you will lead and accelerate product innovation that creates exceptional value for our customer. You will instill boldness, creativity, and curiosity across product teams, ensuring our product decisions translate into measurable impact and delighted customers
- This role requires both a strategic vision and a tactical mindset, ensuring that our digital products—from acquisition and virality to post-signup engagement and chef-facing tools—scale efficiently
- You will lead Product Design at the forefront of our product vision, overseeing three key areas: Conversion, Engagement, Growth, and ChefOS, as well as the Product Support team
- As CookUnity rapidly expands, scaling our kitchens, customers, and chefs, you'll drive the development of innovative ordering models, explore new business models, and support the launch of new product lines
- This role requires balancing attention to fine details with a strategic view to ensure our product evolves seamlessly on both national and international levels
- This role will lead a globally distributed team of mid-to-senior product leaders across both consumer and merchant-facing products, mentoring them on scaling squads and driving impact
- Additionally, you'll collaborate closely with our CTO and key stakeholders, including the SVP of Growth Marketing and Director of Customer Experience, to align on product strategy, OKRs, and execution
- Own the end-to-end product vision, strategy, and execution—from customer acquisition and retention to operational and chef-facing digital tools
- Develop and scale additional revenue channels through expanded offerings, new engagement models, and merchant-based applications
- Lead the development of products that drive subscriber growth, conversion, retention, and re-engagement while nurturing the variety flywheel to expand our meal offerings
- Collaborate with the VP of Growth Marketing to align product initiatives with customer needs and ensure that our value proposition resonates with eaters
- Set ambitious OKRs and build roadmaps that balance long-term vision with short-term wins, constantly refining them based on data-driven insights
- Partner with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Marketing, Data, Customer Experience) to ensure seamless product development and execution, with a focus on speed, quality, and impact
- Serve as a champion for a user-centric culture, constantly advocating for customer needs in all decisions
- Lead, mentor, and grow a diverse and talented team, inspiring creativity while ensuring execution excellence
- Communicate product vision, progress, and trade-offs to leadership and stakeholders, including the COO and board of directors
Our take
CookUnity is a meal subscription service which connects consumers with some of the country's best known chefs, including Esther Choi, Chris Ratel and Andy Mendez. Consumers can select from a menu of handcrafted meals that cater to a wide variety of palates and dietary preferences. Believing that healthy food fuels stronger communities, CookUnity contributes to an ongoing partnership and donation with the Food Bank For New York City.
The New York founded business hit the headlines for its upward trajectory in 2020, where it secured 15.5 million in funding and saw an expected boost not just in demand, but in the supply of top culinary talent at a time when restaurants were struggling.
While there’s a wide world of meal plan delivery services, CookUnity has a jump on much of the competition as it’s the first service that connects such eminent chefs directly with the customer. This has allowed it to expand across much of the US, and it now prepares over 10 million meals annually for its 50,000 subscribers.
With most of the urban US now covered by its service, CookUnity is moving into the next phase of its growth, expanding the range of sellers and food products on the platform, and has plans to offer family-sized portions, brekfast options and cooking classes using its existing physical and digital infrastructure. This will enable it to grow into an all-in-one meal subscription service over the coming years.
