Role
Who you are
- 7+ years of experience in cybersecurity, red/blue team operations, or related fields
- Strong technical knowledge of security (preferably identity security), attack paths, and adversary tactics
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex technical concepts for diverse audiences
- Experience creating and delivering presentations, workshops, and technical content
- Proficiency in using tools like BloodHound, Ghostwriter, Mythic, and other offensive/defensive security tools
- Knowledge about other SpecterOps Community/FOSS tools
- Passion for engaging with the cybersecurity community and fostering collaboration
- Ability to travel (up to 40%) for events, workshops, and conferences
- Experience as a speaker at security conferences or community events
Desirable
- Background in developer advocacy or a similar role focused on community engagement
- Knowledge of SaaS platforms and enterprise security tools
What the job involves
- SpecterOps is looking for a Security Advocate to serve as a bridge between SpecterOps and the cybersecurity community
- This role is ideal for a technically skilled individual with a passion for teaching, creating content, and connecting with other security professionals
- As a Security Advocate, you will promote the broad suite of SpecterOps’s open-source tools and BloodHound Enterprise, educate users on attack path management, and foster engagement with researchers, practitioners, and the community at large
- Represent SpecterOps at industry conferences, webinars, meetups, and virtual events. And serve as a public-facing advocate for SpecterOps across online and offline communities, helping build awareness, trust, and engagement within the cybersecurity community
- Engage with the cybersecurity community through social media, forums, and online groups to promote best practices and thought leadership
- Manage and execute Community event sponsorships, with primary focus on the North America region
- Develop high-quality, technical content such as blogs, whitepapers, tutorials, and videos to educate users about BloodHound Community Edition, BloodHound Enterprise, other SpecterOps’ open-source tools and related security topics
- Create and deliver compelling presentations and workshops on attack path management, identity security, and other key areas of expertise
- Partner closely with the Community Manager to develop and execute community growth initiatives, ambassador programs, educator programs, content creator programs, and community engagement campaigns
- Stay current with trends and developments in cybersecurity to serve as a trusted expert
- Contribute to SpecterOps’ position as a leader in attack path management and enterprise security by sharing innovative ideas and solutions
- Uncover new use cases for our existing tools and potential new opportunities for us to develop solutions for existing customers and community members
- Serve as a technical expert on the marketing team and help inform other demand gen programs, product marketing campaigns and other initiatives as needed

As the onslaught of cybersecurity threats rises and evolves, SpecterOps takes an adversary-focused approach to defend its clients against harmful attacks. Adversary-focused cybersecurity goes above and beyond defense measures to actually impose costs and threats on the attackers, acting as a deterrent for potential hacks.
The old saying “the best defense is a good offense” is relevant here, and SpecterOps, with a co-founder with a background doing similar for the US Marines, has plenty of experience deflecting cyber threats. The company’s Bloodhound software maps and removes potential attack paths and choke points and consults on how companies can improve security. Bloodhound was initially leveraged by penetration testers but has found wider adoption over the last two years, with its customer base growing by 600% in that time. Clients include Capital Group, Woodside Energy, and the University of Texas.
This proactive approach to defense has drawn in considerable investment, SpecterOps having raised two rounds of Series A in 2023 and further VC in 2024. This funding will go towards accelerating what is already a highly popular cyber defense product, whilst 2026 saw it expand its Bloodhound coverage to GitHub and Mac environments.
