Role
Who you are
- 5+ years Technical experience as a database administrator, backend engineer, or IT services within an enterprise or tech startup
- 2+ years Experience successfully demonstrating and articulating the value of Business Intelligence and Analytics tools
- Proficiency in SQL programming
- Working knowledge of best practices and troubleshooting for connecting to common application APIs (Salesforce, Workday, Jira, etc)
- Knowledge of RAG, LLMs Python scripting, and REST API knowledge
- Ability to influence technical audiences in their language, and influence business audiences by translating complex technology concepts
- Passion for data and analytics, a philosophy of using technology to help solve business problems
- Working knowledge of Cloud Data Lakes concepts
- Keen analytical and problem-solving skills
- Curiosity to learn and assimilate technical information quickly, enthusiasm to share and teach others
- Available for up to 40% travel

What the job involves
- Fivetran is building data pipelines to power the modern data stack for thousands of companies
- We’re looking for a technical ace in the hole for when the questions get tough. You’ll work one-on-one with both prospects and Sales team members to help discuss how Fivetran fits within their technology strategy
- You’ll have a full understanding of how Fivetran is architected and a clear understanding of how Fivetran is best used in data stacks. Additionally, you’ll be tasked to invent and implement creative solutions for edge-case issues
- Support sales teams with deep technical knowledge and understanding of Fivetran product offerings and data space
- Serve as the technical liaison between sales and product/engineering teams
- Act as the primary resource in solving technical issues and inquiries in pre-sales and onboarding processes
- Proactively engage with product and engineering teams on roadmap, soliciting and sharing customer/prospect feedback where necessary
- Assist in documentation efforts around Fivetran product offerings, internal knowledge base, and training resources

After a few slower years since graduating from Y Combinator in 2013, Fivetran has skyrocketed, consistently raising large sums of funding, including an Andreessen Horowitz-backed $565m Series D round in 2021.
Customers are mostly data analysts at companies with inefficient database schema, who suffer from a high risk of project failures. Fivetran offers rapid integration of complex data services into cloud warehouses, tagging onto the trend towards cloud-based data systems.
By developing and continuously improving cloud applications that adapt to changing APIs and data schemas, Fivetran is attracting customers who seek long-term data viability. Fivetran also benefits from being easy to set up and integrate into a client's existing software.
After acquiring HVR, a data integration competitor, and Teleport Data, Fivetran continues to add functionality and customers via acquisition. A round of funding in 2023 paved the way for expansion into European and Asian markets.
