Role
Who you are
- Bachelor's (or higher) degree in the Engineering or Economics field
- Solid track record in a leadership role in an industrial environment or in a strategic consulting company serving industrial / production cliental
- Hands-on attitude, experience in a start-up environment is a plus
- Experience in the management of change processes or transformation projects
- Strong project management and leadership skills
- Fluent German and English language skills
- If not living in Austria, located in the European Union, with the flexibility to travel to our HQ from time to time
What the job involves
- As our Chief Operating Officer (COO), you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of LIVIN farms’ daily operations
- You will work closely with our teams to develop and implement strategies that improve efficiency, productivity, and profitability. You will provide guidance and support to ensure that our company goals are met
- You’ll be expected to play an active part in strategic planning as well as day-to-day operations
- Operational Management: Overseeing the daily operations of the company, ensuring that all processes run smoothly and efficiently
- Strategic Implementation: Translating strategic vision into actionable plans and ensuring their successful execution
- Financial Oversight: controlling and overseeing of our finances (outsourced accounting), grant management
- Personnel Management: Delegating responsibilities, conducting staff performance reviews, and ensuring team members grow in their experience and capabilities
- Health and Safety: Overseeing of occupational health and safety standards
- Client Management: Keeping communication with clients and other stakeholders to understand business goals and deliverables
Our take
Climate change continues to fuel a number of food shortages and insect-based proteins are therefore being increasingly considered an alternative food service. Enter LIVIN Farms, an Australian startup that develops products and technologies for the next generation of agriculture. Its core product - Hive PRO Insect Factory - is a turn-key solution for the food, feed and recycling industries.
The Hive Pro is an industrialized system with multiple, stacked trays. It feeds baby larvae with food waste, uses robotic arms to move the trays and helps to rear the insects to ultimately turn them into powder. The other trays are used as fertilizer. This is all part of an effort to improve the up-cycling of organic waste.
The company has already garnered interest from a variety of investors, recently securing a round of series A funding. It is primed to continue to do so as it grows with the intention of becoming a major player in this industry. It is perhaps unsurprising given that LIVIN Farms has essentially found a way to turn food waste back into food.
