Role
Who you are
- Bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics, accounting or related fields
- 2-5 years of experience with compliance responsibilities, including administration of AML procedures, KYC processes, Unusual Activity Reporting, and customer onboarding, preferably in payments, financial technology, or a related startup environment
- Previous experience in Audit roles, Investigations, or consulting
- Strong working knowledge of BSA and USA Patriot Act requirements
- Familiarity with APIs, webhooks, and other integration technologies
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders
- Defaults to an extremely high standard of attention to detail. All work within the Compliance team is subject to internal and external audits, so accuracy and completeness in all work is paramount
- Self-starter tendencies - able to work independently and flex into different roles as needed
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to resolve customer issues
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize work effectively
- Experience with project management tools such as JIRA is a plus
What the job involves
- This product ownership position in the Compliance organization will ensure that Astra maintains a high operating standard for all compliance-related matters, specifically related to the onboarding and oversight of new customers and vendors
- Conduct comprehensive due diligence reviews and risk assessments of new and existing customers to ensure they are in compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices
- Own the design, implementation, and execution of recurring customer audits, including the design of the audits, managing and organizing the audit schedule, communicating with customers, and reviewing customers for BSA compliance
- Enforce compliance standards by monitoring unusual transaction alerts and supporting AML/financial crimes reporting
- Help maintain and update functional documents which govern audit procedures, both internal and as related to external audits
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that customer needs are met in a timely and effective manner, including engineering, customer success, and finance
- Develop and maintain documentation and training materials for customers to ensure they are equipped to use our platform effectively
- Continuously monitor customer usage and proactively identify opportunities to improve their experience with our platform
