Who you are
- Strategic thinker with a proactive approach to identifying and solving complex business challenges
- Demonstrated ownership and ability to independently drive projects from inception to completion
- Exceptional analytical skills with expertise in interpreting complex datasets, identifying patterns, and translating business questions into effective analytical solutions
- 7+ years of experience in marketing/growth analytics, with significant experience in B2B marketing funnels and paid marketing optimization
- 3+ years of experience as a people manager
- Proven ability to recruit, manage, and mentor a high-performing team
- Proven ability to manage relationships with senior executive stakeholders, combined with assertiveness and the ability to challenge the status quo when necessary
- Candidates must have demonstrated experience thriving in fast-paced, nimble, and agile marketing analytics environments, showcasing the ability to rapidly adapt strategies based on evolving data
- High proficiency in SQL is a must
- Expertise in data visualization tools such as Tableau, Looker, or PowerBI
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with enterprise marketing platforms and tools (e.g., SFDC, Marketo or any other marketing automation platform) is a major advantage
What the job involves
- We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Manager to lead the newly formed Marketing Analytics team at Vimeo.
- This critical role will be responsible for building and mentoring a high-performing team of analysts, providing data-driven insights to both Vimeo Enterprise Marketing and Paid Marketing activities, and significantly impacting the growth of these key business areas.
- This role requires a unique blend of exceptional analytical skills, proven leadership and mentorship capabilities, experience working with senior executives, high emotional intelligence and assertiveness
- Own the Future of Vimeo Enterprise and Paid Marketing: This role offers the rare opportunity to build a marketing analytics function from the ground up, directly influencing how Vimeo Enterprise scales and how we optimize a substantial paid marketing budget. You will define the vision for marketing analytics, establish data infrastructure and processes, and empower the team to make better decisions
- Top-to-Bottom Data Ownership: You will have top-to-bottom accountability for the entire data pipeline, ensuring data quality, accessibility, and alignment with business needs. As part of a fully resourced data squad, you will have the final word on prioritization of both analytics and data engineering resources, enabling you to drive impactful projects and optimize the data infrastructure for maximum efficiency
- Team Leadership & Mentorship: Recruit, onboard, mentor, and manage a team of marketing analysts, fostering their growth and development. Cultivate a collaborative and high-performing team environment
- Strategic Analytics: Develop and execute the overall marketing analytics strategy for Vimeo Enterprise and Paid Marketing, aligning with business objectives and identifying key performance indicators (KPIs)
- Data Infrastructure & Process Development: Collaborate with Marketing Ops and engineering teams to establish and maintain robust data infrastructure, ensuring data quality, accessibility, and accuracy. Define and implement standardized reporting and analysis processes
- Enterprise Marketing Analytics: Own the Vimeo Enterprise marketing funnel, define the business logic, and provide actionable insights to drive customer acquisition, engagement, and retention. Analyze marketing campaign performance, identify areas for improvement, and contribute to data-driven strategic planning
- Paid Marketing Analytics: Take ownership of a substantial paid marketing budget (±$30M annually) and drive significant improvements in efficiency and ROI. Analyze campaign performance across various channels, optimize bidding strategies, and provide recommendations for budget allocation
- Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with senior executive stakeholders across the organization, effectively communicating findings and insights, and influencing strategic decisions. This requires a high degree of EQ and the ability to assertively advocate for data-driven recommendations
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with Marketing, Sales, Product, and Engineering teams to understand business needs, gather requirements, and ensure alignment on analytical priorities
- Data-Driven Culture: Promote a data-driven culture within the organization by providing training and resources on data analysis and interpretation
Our take
Vimeo was founded by filmmakers who wanted an efficient way to share videos with others. It is more creator-oriented than YouTube, with professional software, technology, and tools for creators to produce, share, and sell their videos.
In 2007, it became the first online video sharing site to support HD playback for consumers, updating to 4K playback in 2016. Vimeo's app has also been updated to allow recording and live streaming as well as watching video. This service is aimed predominantly at enterprise customers although they have millions of small-time users too.
Vimeo has risen to become the world's biggest ad-free open video platform, with significant funding that has allowed it to expand operations and build up the business. Recently, however, the company has found itself struck by the effects of the economic downturn felt by much of the industry, and has been forced to reduce its workforce - a step taken to ensure it comes out of this rough time "a stronger company". On top of this, it received a hefty fine for failure to remove copyrighted content back in 2019, after losing an appeal against the initial ruling.
In 2024, Vimeo is rumoured to be in the process of acquisition by leading mobile app developer Bending Spoons, which could signify a major shift in the tech landscape.
