Role
Who you are
- Post-secondary education in HR or a related field
- 3 years of previous HR experience or related experience
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Previous experience in employee engagement, events, or program coordination
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations

- We are seeking a passionate and organized People & Culture Generalist to support initiatives that build an inclusive and engaging workplace where employees can thrive
- This role focuses on strengthening company culture, ensuring employees feel valued and motivated, while also contributing to P&C operations, compliance, and health and safety efforts to enhance the overall employee experience
- Design and implement programs and initiatives to boost employee connectedness and morale, including virtual, in-person, and hybrid events, milestone and service awards, and team-building activities
- Stay informed about industry trends and best practices in employee engagement and experience to bring fresh ideas to the team
- Ensure all employee events and engagement initiatives are inclusive and accessible to employees across locations and work environments
- Track and analyze key employee engagement metrics (e.g., event participation, satisfaction scores) to evaluate the impact of initiatives and adjust strategies as needed
- Partner with the Senior Communications Advisor to send employee communications for events, wave-anniversary and various holidays throughout the year
- Collect and act on employee feedback to continuously improve engagement and morale
- Contribute to the development and execution of our employee experience strategy
- Support People & Culture (P&C) initiatives focused on belonging and employee well-being
- Manage the ordering and distribution of employee swap and new hire kits to ensure a seamless onboarding experience
- Support the P&C Operations Specialist with orientation, acting as a backup as required
- Oversee the health and safety program, conducting monthly inspections and ensuring compliance with legislative requirements
- Serve as a worker member of the Joint Health and Safety Committee and maintain JHSC certification
- Manage and respond to employee inquiries through the Help channel and HR inbox
- Maintain the P&C events calendar to ensure smooth execution of key initiatives
Our take
Over 90% of all businesses in North America are zero to five employee companies. These businesses are organising their finances either by paying an expensive accountant, or relying on traditional spreadsheets.
In response, Wave is democratising access to financial services software. While they are not the first to do this, they have taken the flourishing approach of giving away the invoicing and accounting software 100% for free.
The company instead makes money by embedding financial services products within the software. It's these payments and other revenue streams that the startup is now looking to expand to secure more revenue to scale.
While the company has had success so far with its tools, it will need to build a whole suite of products and services in order to compete with the accounting software giants like Xero.
