Who you are
- Interest in UX research
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or equivalent degree in Social Sciences, Computer Science, Design, or a related technical field, with an expected graduation date after the internship term
- Demonstrated experience through projects, internships, hackathons, or open‑source contributions where you used user research to influence decision-making
- Strong problem‑solving skills and synthesis skills — you break down ambiguous problems, ask thoughtful questions, and move ideas forward collaboratively
- Clear, kind communicator who enjoys working in cross‑functional teams and can explain translate concepts for stakeholders
- Excited to learn about contracts, legal workflows, and AI‑powered productivity tools, even if you don’t have prior domain experience

What the job involves
- As a Product Research Intern at Ironclad, You’ll be building a platform that lets legal teams scale themselves and their businesses 100x more effectively, bringing a two‑thousand‑year‑old profession into the digital age
- You’ll be focused on high impact research—not only will you be able to run studies, you’ll also be learning how to translate insights into product decisions
- We are seeking a UX Research Intern eager to drive impact and ship projects that benefit the organization and our users
- You will integrate into design teams—spanning areas like AI, Workflow, or Platform—and deliver projects that support enterprise customers globally
- The internship is designed for someone who wants to understand how research operates at a systems level and learn how research creates impact
- We offer a hands-on environment where you will get to be at the forefront of decision-making for our end-to-end CLM platform
- Organize past studies, insights, and artifacts into a searchable structure
- Develop tagging systems and taxonomy of frameworks
- Improve discoverability and reusability of research knowledge
- Build reusable templates for surveys, usability testing, interview guides, and reporting structures
- Document research workflows and best practices
- Collaborate with mentors and teammates to break down ambiguous problems into clear, scoped projects you can execute on during the internship
- Work across the stack (frontend, backend, or services) depending on team needs and your interests, with guidance from your mentor and manager
- Instrument and monitor your work in production, using metrics and logs to understand impact and reliability, and help debug issues when they arise
- Contribute to team culture, documentation, and best practices so future interns and engineers can build on what you’ve shipped
- Format: Full‑time, 40 hours/week
- Duration: ~12 weeks (summer), with flexibility based on academic calendar
- Mentorship: You’ll be paired with a research mentor and have regular 1:1s with your manager, as well as access to intern programming, tech talks, and networking with leaders across EPD (Engineering, Product, Design)

Business contracting is often inefficient and messy, with approvals required from various stakeholders and many processes still paper-based. Ironclad is a platform that digitises, automates, and streamlines contract workflows, allowing legal teams to focus on legal work rather than paperwork. Its platform features collaborative tools that facilitate business operations and extract and catalogue contract metadata, making information easier to access and act upon. Its enterprise customers include Dropbox, Mastercard, Pixar, Fox, and L’Oréal.
Despite its success, Ironclad faces competition in the $3 billion contract lifecycle management industry from major players like DocuSign and emerging ones like Contractbook. The company recently announced Ironclad Signature, marking its entry into the $25 billion eSignature market. The new feature speeds up the signature process by an estimated 80% and provides summaries and approval histories to users. This new tool is expected to strengthen Ironclad's position in the sell-side contract lifecycle management market.
Additionally, Ironclad introduced value-based pricing, charging only for completed, signed agreements, unlike other providers who charge for every signature packet sent out. Ironclad, backed by investors like Accel, Sequoia, Y Combinator, and BOND, remains committed to innovating and maintaining its leadership in the contract lifecycle management space.
