- Leadership Experience: Demonstrable experience leading and managing multiple software engineering teams, ideally within dynamic, evolving, or high-growth environments where adaptability and rapid iteration are key. Proven history of shipping high-quality products and services
- Technical Management Depth: You have significant experience in software engineering and have successfully managed engineering teams that build and operate foundational services or internal developer platforms
- AI / ML Experience: Direct experience or a strong, demonstrable passion for leveraging AI, machine learning, or advanced data tooling to drive product innovation and improve internal efficiencies
- Complex Initiative Delivery: Track record of iteratively delivering and sustaining large, long-running technical initiatives through ambiguity and complexity
- Architectural Acumen: Solid understanding of modern software architecture principles, with experience building and scaling cloud-native applications and microservices
- Customer Empathy: Deep customer empathy, able to understand developer pain points and translate them into impactful platform features
- Communication & Influence: Excellent communication and influence skills
- Critical Thinking: Ability to think critically, navigate complex technical challenges, and make effective, data-informed decisions
- Commitment to Excellence: Sets a high bar for self and team, with a proven history of driving towards long-term goals and a passion for quality and impact

What the job involves
- At Multiverse, we're on a mission to build the next generation of our product, and we need a strategic and forward-thinking Senior Engineering Manager to lead and manage multiple teams on our internal platform
- You will be a key driver of innovation, particularly in how we leverage AI to enhance our products and create efficiencies in our engineering processes
- Your leadership will directly contribute to our mission by ensuring your team is healthy, productive, and positioned for success in a fast-paced, ambitious environment
- Team Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and foster high-performing engineering teams, cultivating a culture of ownership, trust, collaboration, and continuous improvement
- Strategic Alignment & Delivery: Partner closely with Product, Design, and Data counterparts to define and execute your team's roadmap, ensuring tight alignment with Multiverse's strategic objectives
- Technical Vision & Architecture: Drive the technical direction and architectural decisions for your team's services, ensuring they are scalable, reliable, maintainable, and easy for other teams to adopt
- Complex Migrations: Lead critical technical migrations, minimising toil for consuming teams adopting new changes
- End-to-End Ownership: Own the complete development lifecycle for your team's commitments, from planning and execution through to deployment and monitoring
- Performance & Quality Metrics: Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure team performance, product quality, operational excellence, and the impact and adoption rate of new initiatives
- Talent Acquisition: Actively participate in hiring and onboarding top engineering talent to effectively scale the team
- AI Innovation Champion: Champion the adoption and implementation of AI tools and technologies to drive innovation, enhance developer productivity, and deliver intelligent features for our users

- We want to be a leader in Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI), so we’re working hard to drive the change we want to see in the world, inside Multiverse.
- Everything we do in the DEI space is undertaken with the goal of being representative of the geographies in which we operate – and our apprentice community. Gender diversity has been a long-term challenge for the tech world. We're proud that 55% of our UK Team identify as women, this increases to 64% of our Global Leadership Team (director level and above). We're also proud of our thriving LGBTQQIAAP community, comprising 11% of our UK Team.
- We're committed to improving the diversity of our workforce, at all levels. We continue to invest in early talent through our in-house apprenticeship scheme – something we know is a fantastic route into our organization for exceptional talent from a diversity of backgrounds.
- Last year we identified improving the diversity of our Global Leadership Team (director level+) internally as an area of focus. Steps that we took included introducing robust DEI monitoring processes, rolling out Inclusive Recruitment Training to all staff involved in the hiring, and launching our first internal, Global Leadership Accelerator program.
- We’re proud that in the last 12 months, the representation of colleagues from ethnic minority backgrounds at director+ levels, globally, has increased from 6% to 19%.
