Who you are
- The ideal candidate has an extensive background in enterprise sales, strong leadership capabilities, and solid experience within the customer experience or e-commerce ecosystem
- Leadership Experience: Solid track record in leading and developing enterprise sales teams, ideally within international markets
- Enterprise Sales Expertise: Proven ability to close large, complex deals at the enterprise level
- Industry Knowledge: Strong background in customer experience applications stack is a preference, track record in business applications selling is a must
- Regional Presence: Based in Italy, Belgium, or the Netherlands, with established networks and deep understanding of the local market dynamics
- Strategic & Hands-On: Comfortable operating at both a strategic level and in the detail of major deals
- Excellent Communicator: Skilled in engaging and influencing senior stakeholders across multiple geographies
- Growth-Oriented: Entrepreneurial mindset with the drive to expand Shopware’s footprint internationally
What the job involves
- Reports to: VP of Sales
- The Director of International Sales will drive Shopware’s enterprise revenue growth in Italy, Belgium, and the Netherlands
- This role requires a proven sales leader and first-line manager who can inspire, coach, and scale a high-performing team, while also taking a hands-on role in complex enterprise deals
- Lead & Inspire: Build, mentor, and lead a team of international account executives, fostering a high-performance culture
- Enterprise Growth: Personally engage in and guide complex, high-value enterprise sales cycles, consistently driving new business
- Market Development: Shape and execute go-to-market strategies for Italy, Belgium, and the Netherlands (with potential to further expansion across EMEA), adapting Shopware’s value proposition to local enterprise needs
- Customer Engagement: Develop and maintain strong relationships with C-level executives, acting as a trusted advisor and long-term partner
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Marketing, Customer Success, Product, and Partner Management to align efforts and maximize impact in the designated territory
- Forecasting & Reporting: Maintain clear visibility into pipeline and performance, ensuring predictable growth
- Industry Presence: Represent Shopware at key events and conferences, strengthening our brand and relationships in the region
Our take
The eCommerce boom in recent years has shown no signs of slowing down, and Shopware is capturing the opportunity. The company offers a set of open source tools to power the online shopping experience for hundreds of thousands of brands.
There are of course competitors, like Shopify Plus, but Shopware has stood out for serving mid-market companies that were not digitally-native businesses but had to take on digital channels to keep up with customer demand. This, combined with the obvious increase in brands and companies needing help when eCommerce became more mainstream, has served Shopware particularly well.
Founded in 2000, the company only received its first round of funding in 2022. Until then, it had been profitable off its own back. This capital and support from, among others, Carlyle and PayPal will be invested in its international growth.
