Role
Who you are
- 5+ years of professional experience building and shipping high performance API infrastructures, as well as consumer facing applications
- Strong experience working with backend programming languages (e.g., Java, Kotlin, Python, PHP)
- Experience in schema design in relational or NoSQL databases
- Experience with distributed software architecture and debugging
- Experience working with teams in an agile, intensely iterative software development process
- Experience with performance and optimization problems and the ability to both diagnose and prevent these problems
- Experience with test-driven development and containerization
- Experience with application performance monitoring and log analytics tools. We use New Relic and Sumo Logic
Desirable
- Experience building event-driven systems on services like SQS/SNS, Kafka, Redis
- Experience with AWS, Kubernetes, GCP, or Azure
- Experience withTypescript, Next,js
- Experience with CI/CD tools
- Experience with Localization
- Experience with email and email delivery
What the job involves
- You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, design, and data science, to define, drive and deliver innovative solutions at GoFundMe
- You’ll work across the backend building services that support the business & marketing team in providing a seamless experience to our users
- You'll be responsible for the entire product development lifecycle which include design, development, deployment, documentation and maintenance of new and existing features
- You’ll ensure the reliability, security, and maintainability of the systems and services owned by the team
- You’ll contribute to the growth of the team by looking for opportunities to improve efficiency, processes, productivity and provide leadership to others
- You’ll participate in on-call rotations to assist in troubleshooting urgent engineering issues
